BackguardAegis is a revolutionary combat overhaul mod that completely reimagines how shields work in Minecraft. Say goodbye to the frustration of being constantly ambushed from behind. This mod introduces the "Ultra Shield"—a highly balanced, skill-based 360° defensive mechanic featuring dynamic shockwaves, aggressive projectile deflection, and three brand-new custom enchantments.

🛡️ The "Ultra Shield" Mechanic

To activate the Ultra Shield, equip a shield (main hand or offhand) and crouch. After a 2-second focus period, your shield will emit a bright flash and a subtle chime, signaling to you—and your enemies in PvP—that your ultimate defense is ready.

• Frontal Blocking: Traditional blocking remains completely unchanged. Frontal physical attacks and projectiles will not consume your Ultra Shield charge.
• 360° Omnidirectional Defense: If an attack hits you from an unprotected angle (your back or sides), the Ultra Shield absorbs 100% of the damage instantly and breaks.
• Aggressive Deflection: If the blocked attack from behind was a projectile (an arrow, a fireball, etc.), it doesn't just disappear. It aggressively violently deflects backwards with doubled speed, changing ownership so the attacker takes the damage from their own shot!

💥 Consequences of Breaking

When your Ultra Shield shatters from a back/side attack, three simultaneous effects are triggered:

• Cooldown: You enter a standard 10-second cooldown (tracked seamlessly on your hotbar like a vanilla item).
• Tactical Retreat: You receive Speed I for 2 seconds, allowing you to instantly run, turn around, and reorient your defense.
• Dynamic Shockwave: A powerful force pushes nearby enemies away. The knockback scales mathematically with the damage received: a weak zombie hit grants a slight push for breathing room, while a massive Creeper or Warden attack triggers a huge blast, launching enemies several blocks away!

🪓 The Axe Penalty

Axes remain the ultimate shield-breakers. If an enemy shatters your Ultra Shield using an Axe, the shockwave and the escape Speed effect are completely canceled. Furthermore, your cooldown is severely penalized, jumping from 10 seconds to 15 seconds.

✨ Enchantments

Enhance your combat style with three unique, highly balanced enchantments:

• Reflection (Max Level: V): Returns 5% to 25% of the absorbed damage back to the attacker as magic damage. Anti-Abuse Cap: The maximum reflected damage is capped at 6 HP (3 hearts) per hit, preventing one-shot exploits against massive damage sources.
• Efficiency (Max Level: III): Reduces the focus time required to charge the Ultra Shield. Drops the 2.0s base charge down to a blazing-fast 1.25s at Level III.
• Persistence (Max Level: I): Allows your Ultra Shield to absorb two consecutive back/side hits before breaking (14s cooldown on break). Loot Exclusive: Cannot be obtained via the Enchanting Table or Villagers. This legendary enchantment is exclusively found in Ancient Cities and Trial Chamber Vaults.

• Draggable Interactive HUD: Press 'B' (configurable) to open the HUD Edit Menu. Drag and drop your visual shield indicator anywhere on your screen. You can tweak its scale, or toggle it completely OFF if you prefer the minimalist vanilla hotbar cooldown.
• In-Game Mod Wiki: No need to check external websites! Access the sleek, custom-built mod info screen directly from the HUD menu. It features a fully functioning scrollbar, dynamic text sizing, and high-quality neon UI elements to read about enchantments and mechanics on the fly.
• Native Localization (14 Languages): BackguardAegis features a built-in dictionary independent of your Minecraft language settings. Play the mod perfectly translated into English, Spanish, Hindi, Bengali, French, Arabic, Mandarin Chinese, Portuguese, Indonesian, Urdu, Russian, German, Japanese, and Korean.

⚙️ For Server Admins & Modpack Creators

Are you a server owner who wants to offer BackguardAegis as a VIP reward, a quest unlock, or an achievement prize? BackguardAegis has a built-in Server Lock API using vanilla commands!

1. The Lock System (Vanilla Commands): You can lock or unlock the mod's GUI for specific players by sending them a hidden /tellraw message from the server console or a command block:

• To LOCK the mod for a player: /tellraw [PlayerName] {"text":"[BACKGUARDAEGIS:LOCK]"}
• To UNLOCK the mod for a player: /tellraw [PlayerName] {"text":"[BACKGUARDAEGIS:UNLOCK]"}

The mod automatically saves the lock state locally. To ensure a permanent experience (e.g., for VIP ranks), we recommend configuring your server to send the LOCK command automatically when a player joins (e.g., via EssentialsX "join-commands", Skript, or similar tools). This ensures that the user's status is always synchronized with their current rank or progression.

Note: The mod intercepts and hides these specific messages, so the player's chat won't be spammed. A locked player will see a custom red "LOCKED BY SERVER" screen if they attempt to open the menu.

2. Server Config File (.toml): Upon first boot, the mod generates a backguardaegis_hud.json for client visuals and a standard NeoForge configuration file. Server admins can easily tweak the base cooldowns by backguardaegis-common.toml (Standard, Axe Penalty, and Persistence times) to fit the pacing of their specific modpack.

How to Use

1. Craft and equip a Shield.
2. Crouch and hold right-click to block.
3. Wait 2 seconds for the flash and chime.
4. Enjoy your 360° protection! Press B to customize your HUD.
