Biome Bound Blocks

Biome Bound Blocks introduces a building constraint where specific decorative and building blocks are restricted to placement within their native biomes.

Block Restrictions

Placement Behavior

When a player attempts to place a bound block outside its native biome, the block immediately drops as an item and a subtle click sound plays. This creates an architectural incentive where builds naturally blend with their surroundings.

Technical Implementation

The datapack uses tick functions with area effect cloud markers to detect recent block placements and verify biome compatibility, keeping performance impact minimal.

Player Bypasses

Players who want to bypass restrictions for creative builds can use:

/trigger biome_bypass set 1

This toggles personal exemption, which persists until toggled off again.

Server Configuration

Server operators can disable all restrictions server-wide with:

/function biome_bound:admin/disable

Design Philosophy

The system encourages exploration and establishing multiple building sites across different biomes rather than importing exotic materials to a single mega-base.
