Andy's Configurable Vein Miner and Tree Capacitor
Updated September 8, 2026: Version 2.2.3 replaces the unreliable preview gear-icon settings with one persistent 72-setting menu. Rename a vanilla stick exactly
MiningControl, then crouch-use it on any block. No cheats or experiments are required.
Turn one carefully chosen block break into a connected mining wave. Crouch with the correct tool to mine ores, fell complete trees, shear matching leaves, or clear one of 67 independently configurable material groups. Every option starts off, giving the world owner complete control over what the add-on can affect.
Quick start for local worlds and Realms
- Import the single .mcaddon file.
- Activate Andy's Configurable Vein Miner and Tree Capacitor.
- Enter the world and rename a vanilla stick exactly
MiningControlin an anvil. - Crouch-use it on any block, enable the blocks you want, and save.
- Hold the correct tool, crouch, and break one enabled block.
- Remain crouched and keep the same tool equipped while the connected wave runs.
One add-on, one behavior pack, one menu
Version 2.2.3 removes the old Required Block Settings companion. Bedrock's preview behavior-pack settings API did not reliably pass values from its second gear page to the mining engine, so MiningControl is now the authoritative configuration path for local worlds, Realms, and servers.
The menu has six manageable pages covering all 72 settings. Choices are stored with the world and apply to every player. Only the world owner or an operator can change them. Hosted Bedrock Dedicated Server consoles can also use direct scriptevent commands.
Vanilla-friendly by design
This behavior-only quality-of-life add-on does not add or replace blocks, items, recipes, tools, textures, player models, or world-generation content. MiningControl is an ordinary vanilla stick renamed in an anvil. Minecraft breaks the first block normally; the add-on processes only connected blocks whose setting has been deliberately enabled.
- No required resource pack
- No required external or third-party add-on
- No required experimental gameplay toggle
- Standard graphics and Vibrant Visuals compatible
Features

Important archaeology warning
The Suspicious Sand + Gravel setting is off by default. Vein mining is not brushing: hidden archaeology contents can be destroyed, and Silk Touch does not preserve an unbrushed suspicious block's hidden item. Brush valuable suspicious blocks normally before enabling this setting around an archaeology site.
How connected mining works
| Target | Connection rule | Matching rule |
|---|---|---|
| Ores | Faces, edges, and corners | Same normalized ore family; related stone/deepslate and lit/unlit forms can join |
| Individual materials | Faces, edges, and corners | Same runtime block identifier |
| Logs | Faces, edges, and corners | Exact type by default; same family when Combine Stripped + Normal Logs is on |
| Leaves started with shears | Faces only | Exact leaf type |
| Leaves attached to a felled tree | Faces only, within a bounded canopy depth | Exact leaf type |
One setting can include several related block identifiers without allowing those identifiers to spread into one another. For example, blue ice does not spread into packed ice. Legacy Bedrock variants stored only as block states under one identifier can connect across those states.
Processing limits
| Limit | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Maximum operation size | 512 additional blocks |
| Global processing ceiling | 8 additional blocks per game tick |
| First visible wave | Normally begins within 2–4 game ticks |
| Branch pacing | Weighted 1–3 game-tick delay |
| Falling blocks | Live positions are refreshed and briefly retried while blocks settle |
Release crouch, switch the held tool, move to another dimension, or let the tool break to stop the remaining operation.
Durability, drops, enchantments, and experience
Minecraft handles the manually broken first block. Each additional durability-consuming block has one tool-use opportunity.
- Unbreaking is rolled separately for every additional block.
- Unbreakable custom tools remain unbreakable.
- The operation stops when the held tool breaks.
- Protect Tools at 3% preserves a small reserve during the additional wave.
- Tool protection cannot prevent Minecraft from consuming durability on the manually broken first block.
- Attached leaves cleared while felling a tree do not consume additional axe durability.
- Additional drops use Minecraft's block loot table and the current main-hand tool.
- Fortune, Silk Touch, custom drops, and tool conditions remain available where Minecraft exposes them.
- Known vanilla ore and sculk experience is granted when Silk Touch is absent.
- Additional drops gather at the first broken block.
- Creative mode creates no Survival drops or add-on durability loss.
- The doTileDrops game rule is respected.
Compatibility
| Environment | Support |
|---|---|
| Minimum game version | Minecraft Bedrock Edition 1.26.30 |
| Standard graphics | Yes |
| Vibrant Visuals | Yes; the add-on contains no custom rendering |
| Single-player and local multiplayer | Yes |
| Realms | Yes, when the Realm supports the pack and Script API version |
| Dedicated Bedrock servers | Yes; operators can configure all settings in-game or from the hosted console |
| Dimensions | Overworld, Nether, and End |
| Experiments | None required |
| Required external dependencies | None |
| World settings | The same enabled options apply to all players |
Unknown third-party content is ignored safely rather than mined with an incorrect tool. Custom-block support depends on that add-on's identifiers and published Bedrock tags.
All In One Tool
Recognized All In One Tool items act as pickaxes, axes, shovels, and hoes while retaining their own durability and enchantments. AIOTs do not replace shears.
Core Craft
Core Craft 1.2.1 support includes recognized ores, mud, tree blocks, leaves, moss, and tools using standard Bedrock tool tags.
All In One Tool and Core Craft are optional, are not bundled, and are not required for vanilla functionality.
Installation
Windows and mobile
- Download Andys Configurable Vein Miner and Tree Capacitor 2.2.3.mcaddon.
- Do not extract, rename to ZIP, or recompress the file.
- Open it with Minecraft and wait for the behavior pack to import successfully.
- Create a world or edit an existing world.
- Open Behavior Packs → My Packs.
- Activate Andy's Configurable Vein Miner and Tree Capacitor.
- Enter the world and rename a vanilla stick exactly
MiningControlin an anvil. - Crouch-use it on any block, enable the desired groups, and save.
Console through a Realm
Consoles do not provide a general-purpose local .mcaddon importer. Import and configure the add-on on a supported Windows or mobile device, upload or apply that world through a Realm, and then join the Realm from the console. Platform and Realm support can vary.
Hosted Bedrock Dedicated Server
After the single behavior pack is active, an in-game operator can open the complete paged menu without cheats:
Rename a vanilla stick to MiningControl, then crouch-use it on any block.
Hosting panels and dedicated-server consoles can configure settings directly:
scriptevent andy_vmtc:help
scriptevent andy_vmtc:status
scriptevent andy_vmtc:list
scriptevent andy_vmtc:set ores on
scriptevent andy_vmtc:set tree_logs on
scriptevent andy_vmtc:set leaves on
scriptevent andy_vmtc:get ores
scriptevent andy_vmtc:disable_all
scriptevent andy_vmtc:reset
set <setting> <on|off>changes one option.get <setting>displays one option's current value.listdisplays every available setting and its value.statusreports whether a persistent world configuration is active.disable_allswitches all 72 options off while retaining the saved world configuration.resetdeletes the saved world configuration and restores all 72 defaults to off.
Server settings are saved with the world, survive normal restarts and complete world transfers, and apply to every player. Configuration changes are accepted only from the dedicated-server console or an in-game operator.
Updating from an older version
- Back up important worlds and close Minecraft.
- Import version 2.2.3.
- Confirm the active behavior pack shows version 2.2.3.
- If updating from 2.2.2 or earlier, deactivate the obsolete Required Block Settings (2 of 2) entry.
- Open
MiningControland review the world settings. Persistent menu/server settings remain saved; worlds that only used gear settings begin with all options off.
If Minecraft keeps an older copy cached, remove the installed entries under Settings → Storage → Behavior Packs, restart Minecraft, and import the untouched .mcaddon again.
Troubleshooting
Minecraft still shows the old Required Block Settings pack
Version 2.2.3 no longer needs it. Deactivate the old Required Block Settings (2 of 2) entry from the world. You may also remove its cached copy under Settings → Storage → Behavior Packs after confirming no older world still needs it.
Nothing happens
- Confirm the 2.2.3 behavior pack is active.
- Open
MiningControland confirm the exact setting is enabled and saved. - Crouch before the first block breaks and remain crouched.
- Hold the correct tool for that group.
- Confirm neighboring blocks satisfy the connection and matching rules.
Leaves or another shears group does not work
Use ordinary shears and enable the exact setting. AIOTs are not treated as shears. Leaves must be the exact same type and touch face-to-face.
A tree leaves branches or foliage
Stay crouched and keep the same axe equipped until the wave finishes. Enable Combine Stripped + Normal Logs for mixed log variants. Enable Leaves separately for attached foliage.
The MiningControl menu does not open
Confirm it is a vanilla stick renamed exactly MiningControl, then crouch-use it on a block. Only the world owner or an operator can open the menu. Dedicated-server hosts can run scriptevent andy_vmtc:help from the server console instead.
The tool loses durability quickly
Each additional block costs one durability opportunity unless Unbreaking prevents it. Enable Protect Tools at 3% to preserve a reserve.
Import reports invalid ZIP, invalid pack, or unknown pack
- Confirm the filename ends in .mcaddon, not .zip or .mcaddon.zip.
- Download the file again if it may be incomplete.
- Do not extract or recompress it.
- Fully restart Minecraft.
- Remove incomplete cached copies before importing the untouched download again.
