Meet The Build
Marshall Hall stands as the historic heart of East Texas Baptist University in Marshall, Texas, and has served as the institution's defining landmark since its completion in 1916. Constructed in the Neoclassical style with its stately columns, balanced proportions, and commanding hilltop location, the building was the first structure erected for what was then the College of Marshall and symbolized the community's commitment to providing Christ-centered higher education in East Texas. Originally housing classrooms, administrative offices, a library, laboratories, a gymnasium, and a chapel, Marshall Hall functioned as the center of campus life and remains the university's oldest and most recognizable building. Stretching across the front lawn is another beloved campus symbol known as the "Light That Never Dies," a lamp that has burned continuously since 1932 as a reminder of Christ's enduring light and the university's mission to let that light shine through faith, learning, and service. Together, Marshall Hall and the ever-burning light continue to represent ETBU's rich heritage, enduring traditions, and steadfast commitment to Christian education.
From Colton's Studio
I wanted to bring to life this beautiful campus building. It comes on a day where I've experience a bit of trauma and tragedy alongside family. The lantern that never dies has reminded me of the Light that guides my life even through trial and storm. I pray He guides yours as well.
I'm not sure how much of ETBU I will build yet, wanting to remain focused on SFA as well as my Churches By Colton collection, but stay tuned for more.
