This sun has been surrounded by a Dyson swarm.
My mental construct of the Dyson sphere was, before today, more in line with softer sci-fi, where the sphere is nearly completely solid and encloses the star.
Freeman Dyson himself favored a more complementary design, a 'sphere' comprised of swarms of devices which would traverse independent orbits around the star (presumably, following the natural movement patterns of plasma flowing in the convective zone beneath the photosphere layer). So, this sun has been surrounded by a net of heavy cores to represent the Dyson swarm, and layers of fire and lava very loosely represent the different layers of the star. The core of the star is, obviously, based on Minecraft cosmology rather than real-world astronomy.
