Weber's Companion Resonance

Standing near your teammates is no longer just positioning—it creates combat resonance that can be built, consumed, and strengthened.

Weber's Companion Resonance is a multiplayer-focused passive skill mod for Minecraft 1.21.1 Fabric. When players stay near another player, they enter a Companion Aura and can use the Pufferfish's Skills skill tree to specialize in survivability, mobility, death prevention, burst damage, or increased aura range.

Current version: 1.1.0-alpha.1. This is an Alpha release. Back up your world and configuration files before updating.

Fountain of Life

While inside a Companion Aura, Fountain of Life gradually increases its active tier and restores an independent Fountain shield. The HUD only displays the Tier II and Tier III threshold markers after those tiers have actually been unlocked.

Adrenaline Rush

Builds resonance while inside the aura and grants 6% / 12% / 18% movement speed based on the currently active tier. It uses a sustained-charge HUD model similar to Fountain of Life.

Guardian's Resolve

Charges slowly while inside the aura. When fully charged and still within the aura, the next fatal hit leaves the player at 1 health and grants a temporary Guardian shield.

After leaving the aura, charge is preserved for 10 seconds, then decays at a rate that empties a full bar in 90 seconds. All three tiers use the same decay duration.

Kindled Assault

Charges while inside the aura. When fully charged and currently within the aura, the next successful damaging hit—and all supported damage dealt during the following short burst window—receives an independent damage multiplier.

After leaving the aura, charge is preserved for 10 seconds, then decays at a rate that empties a full bar in 16 seconds. All three tiers use the same decay duration.

Optional ready-state particles are shown only while the main hand holds an item recognized as a weapon or tool. The particles can inherit player velocity, and their interval, size, position offsets, spread, color, and item-recognition keywords are configurable.

Widened Bond

Widened Bond has no separate progress bar. It directly increases the Companion Aura detection radius used by all other skills.

Shield and Damage Priority

The mod tracks Guardian shields, Fountain shields, and vanilla or third-party absorption separately, then mirrors their combined total to the standard golden absorption-heart display.

Incoming damage is consumed in this order:

  1. Guardian's Resolve shield
  2. Fountain of Life shield
  3. Vanilla or third-party absorption
  4. Player health

HUD

Up to four progress bars are displayed in the lower-right corner:

Each abbreviation is centered above its bar. Pressing F1 hides both the bars and their labels. Every skill color can be changed independently through JSON or Cloth Config.

Requirements

Recommended Mods

The mod contains both server-side gameplay logic and a client-side HUD. For multiplayer use, installing the same version on the server and on every player's client is recommended.

Configuration

After the first launch, the configuration file is located at:

config/companion_resonance.json

Configurable settings include:

When time values are expressed in ticks, Minecraft normally uses 20 ticks = 1 second.

Highlights of 1.1.0-alpha.1

Known Compatibility Limits

Kindled Assault attempts to resolve the actual player responsible for damage, including melee attacks, vanilla projectiles, and modded spells that retain caster or owner information. Fully custom summons, damage-over-time effects, or special attacks that do not preserve player ownership may not receive the damage bonus.
