Decompose crafted items back into their materials — durability-aware, enchantment-aware, and 100% dependency-free. Decomposition Table is a standalone Forge survival utility mod. It adds one block, the Decomposition Table, that works as the reverse of a crafting table: put a finished item in, get its original components out. No other mods required, no config files, no world generation, no mixins — it runs entirely on its own on both client and server.
Why it exists
The author developed this Decomposer mod because they found it wasteful to have items accidentally crafted in Minecraft.
What it does
Reverse crafting for vanilla tools, weapons, armor, bows, crossbows, fishing rods, shields, shears, flint and steel, doors, trapdoors, stairs, carpets, glass bottles, sticks, and mineral blocks ↔ ingots. Durability scaling: returned amounts follow four tiers (FULL / HIGH / MEDIUM / LOW). Shears & flint and steel special rule: ≥ 50% durability returns full materials; below 50% only 1 iron ingot is returned (flint omitted). Enchantment extraction: enchanted items at ≥ 90% durability drop their enchantments as separate Enchanted Books before decomposing. Live 3×3 preview: exactly what you see in the table is what you get in your inventory. No dependencies: only needs Forge. No Curios, no JEI, no Blueprint, no Fabric-only port. Drop the jar in mods/ and it works. Design rules No XP cost No progress bar No RNG Preview always equals result Multiplayer-safe
