Nubz' Ancient Flowers
This small datapack aims to add unique functionalities to the Sniffers ancient flowers, without it feeling like they are things you must have. This way, players are rewarded a bit more after spending hours getting these flowers, without giving an unfair advantage to those who didn't.
Torchflower
This change is one that has been suggested many times over. This plant now gives of light! wow, what a surprise. But wait, it's a bit more unique than only giving off light. The torchflower now stores light like a battery. When standing in higher light levels, it will slowly charge up until it gives off the same light level as the environment. When the light level decreases, it slowly loses charge until, again, it gives off the same light level as the environment. More details about the torchflower can be found below.
These changing light levels can also be detected by an observer, allowing the detection of small light level changes in the environment.
Pitcher Plant
The pitcher plant can now be used to store rainwater. While it's raining, the pitcher plant has a small chance of filling up with water. This rainwater can be collected by right clicking on the pitcher plant with an empty bottle. This empties the pitcher plant and fills the bottle. But it isn't always water that comes out of this plant. Depending on the soil the plant is standing on, you can fill the bottle with either; water, mundane potion, thick potion, awkward potion, or a potion of poison. More details on the pitcher plant, such as what type of soil you need for what potion, can be found below.
If you don't like the fact you can gain awkward potions from these plants due to progression concerns, you can disable it by typing: '/function nubz_ancient_flowers:toggle_pitcher_awkward_potion'.
When a pitcher plant fills with water, or when it is emptied with a bottle, can be detected with an observer.
Details
Torchflower
SpoilerThe Torchflower emits light.
- The light level ranges between 0 - 15 depending on the amount of charge the torchflower has. Higher charge means a higher light level.
- The Torchflower slowly and randomly loses charge passively.
- The torchflower slowly and randomly gains charge while standing in light up to a maximum. The maximum depends on the light level.
- The random chance of changing its charge amount is 1/800 per tick.
- Placing a block above the torchflower disables it, and resets its charge.
- The changing of light level can be detected with an observer.
- A potted torchflower also emits light.
- Only fully grown torchflowers emit light. When a torchflower crop fully grows, it will start charging and emitting light.
Pitcher Plant
SpoilerThe Pitcher Plant stores rainwater.
- To store rainwater, the Pitcher plant must be fully grown, and must have a clear sight of the sky while its raining.
- While it is raining, the pitcher plant has a small chance of filling with water (1/3200 per tick).
- A filled pitcher plant can be right clicked with an empty bottle to fill the bottle and empty the pitcher plant.
- Depending on the soil the Pitcher Plant is on, the bottle fills with either normal water, awkward potion, thick potion, mundane potion, or potion of poison.
- Water Bottle: Grass blocks, dirt, coarse dirt, rooted dirt, farmland.
- Mundane Potion: Moss block.
- Thick potion: Mud, Muddy Mangrove Roots.
- Awkward Potion: Mycelium. (can be disabled. If disabled, Mycelium fills the bottle with potion of poison.)
- Potion of Poison: Podzol.
- When a pitcher plant is filled or emptied, it can be detected with an observer.
- To disable the awkward potions, type: '/function nubz_ancient_flowers:toggle_pitcher_awkward_potion'
Important Notes
Due to the limitations of datapacks, there are a couple things to note.
- Observers also detect block updates for torchflowers 1 block above the torchflower. This is due to the fact the light block is used, and this is placed 1 block above the torchflower. This is also why its disabled and reset when you place a block above it.
- You can't break a filled pitcher plant while holding an empty bottle. This is due to an interaction entity placed over the flower to check for a right click. You can break the filled pitcher plant normally by not holding an empty bottle, or by emptying the pitcher plant, and then breaking it.
- Only Flowers placed by players will work. Flowers placed with commands or dispensers will not have their unique functionality. The check for adding functionality to these flowers is made when it's placed by a player. It's simply too resource intensive to constantly check the entire world for flowers not placed by players, and is therefore not done.
