VanillaTweaker » Small changes, big improvements!

Most quality-of-life plugins decide for you. This one does not. Every single change is its own module with its own settings file, its own permissions and its own on/off switch, and you can flip any of them while the server is running. No restart, no reload of everything else.

Everything ships off. A fresh install changes nothing at all until you turn something on, so you can add it to a server you already care about and go one tweak at a time.

It replaces seven abandoned plugins that used to do these jobs separately, so that is seven fewer things to keep an eye on.


✨ A few favourites

• tree-gravity Chop the bottom log and the trunk topples over as falling blocks. It is not a tree capitator: the logs land on the ground and you still chop them up. It just looks fantastic.
• shulker-box-preview Open a shulker box straight from your inventory without putting it down first. Works on your ender chest too.
• auto-replant Harvest a grown crop and it replants itself out of what you just picked. Seeds you drop plant themselves on suitable ground.
• lapis-in-table Your lapis stays in the enchanting table. So does the item you were part way through enchanting.
• better-doors Double doors swing together like real ones, redstone drives both halves, and you can knock to be let in.
• compass-work-everywhere Your compass points back at the portal you came through, or at your bed, instead of spinning uselessly in the Nether.
• mob-heads Mobs drop their own heads, right down to the cat's markings and the villager's job.
• ✂️ animal-shearing Shear a pig for pork instead of killing it. Sixteen animals, and a burning animal or Fire Aspect shears give you the cooked version.
• reach-around Place a block below you or behind the one you are looking at, without the awkward jumping.
• anvil-colors Rename an item in the anvil with real colours, hex codes and gradients.
• ⚡ storm-channeling Throw a Channeling trident above the build limit and call down a thunderstorm.
• confetti-creepers Creepers burst into fireworks instead of blowing up your base.

Run /vt list in game for the same list with a short description of each one and whether it is currently on.


⌨️ Commands

The command is /vanillatweaker, and /vt is the short version.

• /vt What all of this does.
• /vt list Every module, grouped, with its state.
• /vt status <module> One module in detail.
• /vt toggle <module> Turn it on or off, right now, and remember it.
• /vt reload Re-read the settings files.

Module names tab-complete, so you never have to remember the spelling.


✅ What you need

• Spigot 1.20.6 or newer, right up to 26.2. One jar covers the lot.
• Java 21 or newer.
• jumpy-boats needs 1.21.3. It rides on a key press older servers are never told about. It says so and stays off; the other 63 are unaffected.
• Nothing else. No other plugins required.
• Folia is not supported.

⚠️ Read this before you install

• Do not leave the old plugins installed. If you are moving over from Tweakin, AnvilColors, Baconize, BetterLogStrip, BetterTridents, Doors-Reloaded or LumberJack, remove them first. Running both means two plugins reacting to the same thing, which gives you doubled drops and settings that fight each other.
• WorldGuard region flags do not carry over. Baconize registered a region flag called baconize. If you ever used it, WorldGuard will drop it on load and any region you protected that way stops being protected, quietly. Check your region files before you switch, and use the world list or the permission nodes instead.
• Two animals ship switched off inside animal-shearing, sheep and mooshrooms, even when you turn the module on. Shears already mean something on those two, and a mooshroom turns permanently into a cow. You can turn them on if you really want them.
• composter-fertilizer only notices composters it has seen. There is no world scan at startup, so composters you built before turning the module on do nothing until somebody clicks one.

⚙️ Settings

modules.yml is the master switch list, one line per module, and nothing else. Every module then has its own folder under modules/ with its own config.yml, so you are never scrolling through one enormous file looking for the bit you want.

Every module's settings include a world filter, so you can run a tweak in your survival world and not on your creative one, and a switch for whether its permissions are actually checked.

messages.yml holds every line the plugin says to a player, with full colour and gradient support, so you can reword any of it.

New settings added by a later version are merged into your existing files automatically. Your values are left alone.
