The Parakeet Mod

Java mod listed for Minecraft 1.16–1.19. Downloads from the MC Java Mods app on Android.

Which build do you need?

This mod ships a separate file for every mod loader and every version of the game. Pick both, then download — the wrong build installs fine and then does nothing in the game.

I don't know my version or loader
Open the Minecraft launcher and look at the profile you play on — it names both, like fabric-loader-1.21.4. The version also shows in the bottom-right corner of the game's main menu.
No loader in the profile name? Then it's plain Minecraft, and these mods won't run — you need Fabric or NeoForge installed first.

This mod adds parakeets and cockatiels to the game, which are found in jungle biomes. Alternatively, you may spawn them using their custom spawn eggs in the 'Miscellaneous' tab, or via command (i.e.: "/summon parakeetmod:parakeet"). There is also a new ultra-secret bird species which only appears in the mushroom fields biome.
This mod can be configured via Mod Menu.

The variant array goes as follows:
0 = Blue
1 = Pied blue
2 = Turquoise
3 = Spangle turquoise gulmasket
4 = Green
5 = Yellow
6 = Gray
7 = Gray factor green
To spawn a particular variant, use the command "/summon parakeetmod:parakeet ~ ~ ~ {variant: X}".

If there is a variant you would like to see added, leave a comment and I will consider :)

Current features:
- Taming items: wheat seeds, pumpkin seeds, beetroot seeds, or melon seeds.
- Health and healing: Parakeets only have 4 health points, while cockatiels have 6. You may feed your tamed birds with carrots, apples, beetroots or melon slices in order to restore their health! This feature extends to the vanilla parrots! Beware that cookies are poisonous to them, though, as they contain chocolate!
- Sounds: The mod features custom bird sounds (special thanks to @pea.bo on Instagram for giving permission to use their cockatiel's sounds!).
- Behaviors:
 + Parrots, parakeets, and cockatiels will flock together. They will also look at other birds within a radius of 2 blocks, as well as look around.
 + Parakeets and cockatiels can dance to music discs, as well as follow/look at their owner.
 + Just like with parrots, the new birds will perch on their owners' shoulders.
- Vanilla texture replacement: The mod replaces the gray parrot texture with one resembling an African gray (can be seen in the gallery). You may disable this by opening the .jar mod file using 7zip or WinRAR, and then deleting the "minecraft" folder located inside the "assets" folder.
- Spawning: It is possible to enable/disable the natural spawning of each of the mod's birds via the mod's configuration file or using Mod Menu.

New features under consideration:

+ More variants, perhaps one with special spawning conditions as well.

+ Breeding?
