Bomb Disposal Expert is a fun mod that allows you to dispose of bombs (and Creepers!). After installing it, you will have a more graceful solution than using water buckets.
By clicking TNT with shears, you can defuse a TNT or a primed TNT. This will drop a TNT without gunpowder, which is not ignitable.
You can also click a Creeper with shears to make it neutralized. This will make it drop gunpowder and no longer follow you.

Clicking a primed TNT with shears to defuse it.
You can also defuse an unprimed TNT, which it will become a no gunpowder TNT.
Furthermore, defuse a Creeper! Creepers that defused will no longer attack you.
