# CobbleDrock Legendary Encounters

Legendary hunting for **Minecraft Bedrock Edition**, built for the CobbleDrock ecosystem.

CobbleDrock Legendary Encounters puts the classic Legendaries out into your world as real, catchable encounters instead of handing them to you. Two rarity tiers share one spawn clock, only one Legendary can be out at a time, and a single command tells you exactly what is out, where it is, when it leaves and when the next one rolls — **without ever turning cheats on**.

---

## Highlights

* **Survival friendly, no cheats** — the whole management command is a native slash command (`cheatsRequired: false`). Works in a normal Survival world with cheats off, no operator status needed to check the status.
* **No Legendary right after world creation** — a brand new world waits a configurable grace period (30 minutes by default) before the first encounter. No more "Legendary at spawn".
* **Real spawn clock, not a resetting timer** — the schedule is stored in the world in wall-clock time, so reloading the world or restarting the server does **not** drop a fresh Legendary and does **not** extend the one that is already out.
* **Two tiers, one scheduler** — Popular Legendaries (birds, beasts, regis, Eon duo, weather trio, Tao trio, genies) and Special Legendaries (Mewtwo, Mew, Lugia, Ho-Oh, Regigigas, Deoxys, Darkrai, Arceus, Victini, Keldeo, Meloetta, Genesect, Shaymin) share a single scheduler, so "only one at a time" is always true.
* **Biome-accurate placement** — 31 species (18 Popular + 13 Special), each tied to the biomes it belongs in, with ground, sea-surface and sky placement. Darkrai only appears at night, Moltres only in the Nether, Arceus and Deoxys only in the End.
* **Retune the rates in-game** — every timing, weight, distance and level value can be read and changed with one command. Nothing needs a re-release to be tuned.
* **Notifies through CobbleDrock Spawn Alerts** — every spawn carries the shared tags and Pokemon data, so CobbleDrock Spawn Alerts announces it server-wide. No duplicated messages.
* **Keeps your entity budget intact** — Legendaries are tagged as spawn-cap exempt, so they never eat into CobbleDrock Core's normal Pokemon spawn limit.

## Requirements

| Addon / component | Version | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| **CobbleDrock Core** | 1.3.0 Fix | **Required.** Provides every Pokemon entity, species and battle data this addon uses |
| **CobbleDrock Spawn Alerts** | 1.0.2 | **Required.** Owns the spawn/despawn notifications. This addon is a dependency, so it must be installed and active |
| Minecraft Bedrock Edition | 1.21.120+ | `min_engine_version` of the pack |
| Experimental toggles | none | Uses the stable script API only. **No Beta APIs experiment required** |

> Because this pack depends on **CobbleDrock Core** and **CobbleDrock Spawn Alerts**, all three must be installed **and** activated on the world. If one is missing, Minecraft reports a missing dependency instead of loading the pack.

## Installation

1. Download all three `.mcaddon` files: CobbleDrock Core, CobbleDrock Spawn Alerts and CobbleDrock Legendary Encounters.
2. Open each `.mcaddon` file to import it (Windows, Android, iOS, consoles via a supported transfer method — one file imports both the behavior and resource packs it contains).
3. Create or edit a world, then enable **both** packs from the addon list:
   * `CobbleDrock Core BP` + `CobbleDrock Core RP`
   * `CobbleDrock Spawn Alerts 1.0.2 Fix`
   * `CobbleDrock Legendary Encounters 1.0.3`
4. Enter the world and run `/checkspawn legendary`. The first line should read `alerts: linked (CobbleDrock Spawn Alerts v1)`.
5. Find a biome that matches one of the species below and wait, or force a roll with `/checkspawn legendary spawn`.

## Commands

### Check and retune — no cheats, works in Survival

```
/checkspawn legendary
/checkspawn legendary rates
/checkspawn legendary help
/checkspawn legendary set <name> <value>
/checkspawn legendary set popular 60
/checkspawn legendary set special 90
/checkspawn legendary set first 45
/checkspawn legendary notify_alerts
/checkspawn legendary notify_direct
/checkspawn legendary enable
/checkspawn legendary disable
/checkspawn legendary spawn
/checkspawn legendary clear
/checkspawn legendary reset
/checkspawn legendary reload
```

* In chat you can type the short alias `/checkspawn legendary`. The full namespaced form `/lota:checkspawn legendary` is the official one and the only form that works in command blocks and script events.
* `status`, `rates` and `help` are available to every player.
* The rest require the `lota:legendary_admin` tag. **The first player to use one claims it automatically**, so a Survival world with no operators can still be tuned. Grant it to somebody else with `/tag <player> add lota:legendary_admin`.

### Operator / command block (script events)

```
/scriptevent lota:legendary_status
/scriptevent lota:legendary_rates
/scriptevent lota:legendary_config <name> <value>
/scriptevent lota:legendary_spawn
/scriptevent lota:legendary_despawn
/scriptevent lota:legendary_schedule_show
/scriptevent lota:legendary_reset_schedule
/scriptevent lota:checkspawn legendary
```

---

## Default spawn rates

| | Default | Adjustable with |
|---|---|---|
| Wait before the very first Legendary | 30 minutes | `set first <minutes>` |
| Popular tier interval | 45 minutes (± 7.5) | `set popular <minutes>` |
| Special tier interval | 62.5 – 87.5 minutes (75 ± 12.5) | `set special <minutes>` |
| How long a Legendary stays | 15 min (Popular) / 20 min (Special) | `set popular_lifetime` / `set special_lifetime` |
| Legendaries at the same time | 1 | `set max_active_legendaries` |
| Tier odds | Popular 3 : Special 1 | `set popular_tier_weight` / `set special_tier_weight` |
| Spawn distance from a player | 48 – 96 blocks | `set min_spawn_distance` / `set max_spawn_distance` |
| Level / perfect IVs | 50–65 / 2 IV (Popular), 55–70 / 3 IV (Special) | `set popular_min_level`, `popular_perfect_ivs`, … |

Every timing setting accepts minutes (`45m`) or raw ticks. Run `/checkspawn legendary rates` for the complete list of setting names and the live values.

|---|---|
| Articuno | Ice Plains, Ice Spikes, Ice Mountains, Cold Taiga, Frozen Peaks, Snowy Slopes, Grove, Frozen Ocean |
| Zapdos | Jagged/Frozen/Stony Peaks, Extreme Hills |
| Moltres | **Nether** — Hell, Basalt Deltas, Crimson Forest |
| Entei | Mesa / Badlands, Savanna |
| Regirock | Desert, Mesa, Stone Beach |
| Regice | Ice Plains, Ice Spikes, Ice Mountains, Cold Taiga, Frozen Peaks, Snowy Slopes |
| Registeel | Dripstone Caves, Deep Dark, Extreme Hills |
| Latias / Latios | Flower Forest, Meadow, Sunflower Plains, Cherry Grove, Forest, Birch Forest |
| Kyogre | Deep Ocean (on the water surface) |
| Groudon | Desert, Mesa |
| Rayquaza | Jagged/Frozen/Stony Peaks (in the sky) |
| Reshiram | Mesa, Desert |
| Zekrom | Peaks, Roofed Forest |
| Kyurem | Ice Plains, Ice Spikes, Ice Mountains, Cold Taiga, Frozen Peaks, Snowy Slopes |
| Tornadus | Plains, Meadow, Savanna, Extreme Hills (in the sky) |
| Thundurus | Plains, Meadow, Savanna, Jagged Peaks (in the sky) |
| Landorus | Plains, Meadow, Savanna, Desert |

### Special tier

| Species | Biome |
|---|---|
| Mewtwo | Lush Caves, Dripstone Caves, Deep Dark |
| Mew | Jungle |
| Lugia | Deep Ocean (on the water surface) |
| Ho-Oh | Jagged/Frozen/Stony Peaks (in the sky) |
| Regigigas | Ice Spikes, Ice Mountains, Snowy Slopes |
| Deoxys | **The End** |
| Darkrai | Roofed Forest, Pale Garden, Deep Dark — **night only** |
| Arceus | **The End** (in the sky) |
| Victini | Plains, Sunflower Plains, Meadow |
| Keldeo | River, Swampland, Mangrove Swamp, Beach |
| Meloetta | Flower Forest, Meadow, Sunflower Plains, Cherry Grove, Birch Forest |
| Genesect | Lush Caves, Dripstone Caves, Deep Dark |
| Shaymin | Flower Forest, Meadow, Sunflower Plains, Cherry Grove |

**Easy places to hunt:** The End can only produce the Special tier (Arceus or Deoxys). The Nether only produces Moltres. A Deep Ocean rolls Kyogre or Lugia. A Jungle rolls Mew.

## How the spawn clock works

1. The scheduler wakes up every 5 seconds and checks whether a Legendary is already out.
2. If one is out, nothing else can spawn. The clock is paused and restarts **from the moment it leaves** — so you always get a full interval of peace afterwards.
3. When the clock is due, the roll picks a spot 48–96 blocks around a random player who is in a dimension the addon can spawn in. If the biome there has no matching species, it tries again (up to 8 spots per player) and retries in 2 minutes.
4. Biomes decide the tier, the tier weights decide which table is drawn from, and the species weights decide the winner.
5. The Legendary stays for 15 or 20 minutes, then leaves. Catching it is what ends the encounter — the departure announcement is skipped when it was captured.

## Troubleshooting

| Problem | Cause / fix |
|---|---|
| `No valid Legendary biome within range` | The biome you are standing in has no matching species. Note that plain `Ocean` is not in the list — only **Deep** Ocean. Move to a matching biome and try again |
| `A Legendary is already out. Only one at a time.` | Run `/checkspawn legendary clear` first |
| `No player is in a dimension this pack can spawn in` | You are outside the Overworld, Nether and End |
| No announcement appears at all | Run `/checkspawn legendary`. If the first line says `alerts: not detected`, CobbleDrock Spawn Alerts is not running. Also check `/scriptevent lota:alerts_status` and make sure alerts are enabled |
| A second spawn right after the first is silent | CobbleDrock Spawn Alerts uses a 3 second global and a 60 second per-species cooldown. Clear it with `/scriptevent lota:alerts_clear` |
| Nothing spawns at all | Run `/checkspawn legendary rates` and check `Spawning:` is `ENABLED`. Enable Content Log to read `[Legendary] <Tier> <species> spawned at …` |

## For the CurseForge file changelog field

```
1.0.3
- Added the /checkspawn legendary command (no cheats required, works in Survival):
  status, rates, retune spawn rates, switch notification mode, force/clear an
  encounter, reset or reload settings.
- New default spawn rates: a world now waits 30 minutes before its first
  Legendary, the Popular tier runs every 45 minutes (was 12-18) and the Special
  tier every 75 minutes (was 20-30).
- Fixed: a brand new world no longer spawns a Legendary 30-60 seconds after
  creation, and reloading or restarting the world no longer drops an extra one.
- Fixed: a Legendary already out no longer has its remaining time extended by a
  world reload.
- Fixed: doubled "LEGENDARY ENCOUNTER" messages. Notifications now have a single
  owner, CobbleDrock Spawn Alerts.
- Fixed: two independent timers could spawn two Legendaries at once. Both tiers
  now share one scheduler.
- Fixed: the Popular and Special species tables overlapped, which made
  per-species odds unpredictable. They are now separate: 18 + 13 species, with
  tier weights.
- Shared runtime modules (species data, move data, weights, math, config) are now
  byte-for-byte copies of CobbleDrock Core 1.3.0 Fix. The previous build shipped
  a 12-species weight table and stale species data.
- Dependency on CobbleDrock Core corrected from 1.2.4 to 1.3.0, and a dependency
  on CobbleDrock Spawn Alerts 1.0.2 was added for notifications.
