Survive using solely a chunk's worth of resources on PlayStation®3 Edition!

One Chunk Survival | PlayStation®3 Edition [EU DISC] Minecraft Map Overview

There is plenty of one chunk survival content available on PlanetMinecraft. Nevertheless, the underappreciated Legacy Console Editions have once again not been accounted for! Naturally, I took matters into my own hands, and designed this compact, calculated survival challenge for PlayStation®3 Edition.

Overworld and nether have been confined to merely a single chunk apiece. The overworld consists of a forest biome, which holds oak and birch trees. Tall grass, rose bushes and sugar cane are present as well. Below the surface, two underground structures can be found: a dungeon and a mineshaft, each holding potentially useful loot inside their chests. The contents of a loot chest are not pre-determined and vary for every instance of this world. Of course, the inclusion of all ores in addition to lava has been secured, as to enable access to the nether.

Further resources vital for advancing are situated within the nether. Nether warts, glowstone, soul sand, quartz ore, and a supplementary abundance of lava are located there. A nether fortress has been incorporated, too, providing a source of blaze rods.

A known issue are the numerous lighting errors within the chunks, particularly the nether. Any attempt to resolve those have proven futile. However, these should not hinder the experience in any substantial way.

The overworld and nether chunks are enclosed by barriers to prevent players from subverting the challenge. The world's uppermost y-layer has also been filled with barriers, since it is possible to technically escape the chunk by towering up to the build limit. Even so, the player won't be able to place or destroy anything on top of the barriers, rendering escaping vain. Pre-existent player data has been utilized to make sure that the player spawns inside the overworld's chunk instead of on the barriers.

The end has not been accounted for, as I had considered it unfitting for this challenge and difficult to integrate in a satisfying manner.

Host privileges are to be kept activated, as players would otherwise not be able to place lava inside the chunk.

One Chunk Survival | PlayStation®3 Edition [EU DISC] Minecraft Map Installation

Step 1: Determine world folder
To determine the world folder, look for the one titled:BLES01976--<sequence of numbers>Check whether the folder indeed contains the expected world files (e.g. GAMEDATA, ICON0.PNG) to ensure that it really is the world folder.

If your game region of Minecraft: PlayStation®3 Edition is not the European disc version (BLES01976), refer to the instructions listed in the aftermentioned Compatibility section.

Step 2: Move world folder to USB drive
Fetch your USB drive and plug it into your computer. Confirm that it is formatted to FAT32, as it is required for external drives to properly interact with the console. You can do so by right-clicking the displayed USB drive in an Explorer window and selecting Properties.

Create the undernoted path on your USB drive:
PS3/SAVEDATA/Subsequently, store your downloaded world folder under that path.

Step 3: Transfer save data to PlayStation®3
Attach the USB drive to your PlayStation®3. When it's turned on, navigate to Save Data Utility under Game in the XMB screen. There, your USB drive will be displayed as part of your list of save data. Press X on the displayed USB drive and search for your downloaded map in the subsequent list. Open its options through pressing and select Copy. After the transfer is completed, the world is prepared for playability.

One Chunk Survival | PlayStation®3 Edition [EU DISC] Minecraft Map Compatibility

This world has been made for the latest version (1.84) of Minecraft: PlayStation®3 Edition's European disc version (BLES01976).

A regional variant does not recognize save data created for other game regions. Thus, one has to manually convert the world to the desired game region.

Step 1: Create world on PlayStation®3
Create a new world on Minecraft: PlayStation®3 Edition using your console. Ideally, name it after the world you are attempting to convert later.

Step 2: Copy world to USB drive
Exit the game and return to the console's XMB screen. Navigate to Game and afterwards Save Data Utility. Ensure that your USB drive is connected to the console. Press on your newly created world in your save data list, select Copy, and copy the save data to your USB drive.

Step 3: Replace GAMEDATA
You require Universal Minecraft Editor. Plug the USB drive into your computer and open the application. Choose the platform PlayStation 3 and right-click on your world. Select Replace GAMEDATA and open the GAMEDATA of the downloaded world in the subsequent explorer window. Let it resign.

Step 4: Move world to PlayStation®3
After resigning, insert the USB drive into your console again. In the Save Data Utility, copy the modified world from your USB drive back to your console and overwrite its original instance. The world is now playable on your regional variant.
