Ninja Grappling Hook: Flow Edition

Vibrant Visuals Compatible • Realm Friendly

A traversal-focused grappling hook for Minecraft Bedrock built around fast point-to-point movement, vertical traversal, hanging, and chaining one grapple into the next.

With a 64-block range, the hook can pull you across gaps, up structures, toward distant ledges, or into position for another grapple. Normal movement keeps its momentum instead of feeling like a teleport or rigid winch.

Easy to use. Unless you haven't completed your ninja training.

Controls

Shadow Step (Normal grapple, if we’re being painfully specific.)

Tap Use / Interact

Fire at a valid block.

Once attached, the hook gives you an immediate pull with some natural upward momentum. It then releases automatically before you completely reach the anchor, allowing your movement to continue into the next grapple.

Maximum range: 64 blocks.

Shadow Step

Shadow Anchor (Stay attached, the “anchor” part was doing some heavy lifting there.)

Hold the same Use / Interact press used to fire the grapple until the hook attaches.

Instead of automatically releasing, the hook remains latched.

While attached:

Control Action
Jump Reel in
Sneak Reel out
Move Left / Right Reposition around the anchor
Move Back / Sideways Create space from walls and adjust your position
Release the original Use / Interact hold Detach normally

This is useful for hanging, lining up another grapple, climbing more carefully, repositioning around obstacles, or setting up a swing.

Swinging is possible, but Flow Edition is primarily designed as a controlled point-to-point traversal tool rather than a dedicated swinging or realistic rope simulation.

Shadow Anchor

Cloud Step (Upward release, for those taking the name literally.)

During a normal attached grapple, press Use / Interact a second time before the automatic release.

The hook disengages immediately and gives you an extra upward thrust while preserving the horizontal momentum you already have.

Use it to clear a ledge, gain additional height, turn forward speed into a rising trajectory, or line yourself up for a higher grapple.

Cloud Step

Ninja Sling (Traversal boost, because “launch yourself” lacked elegance.)

There is also a stronger launch for players willing to learn the timing.

Start on the ground while attached to a block, then perform:

Jump → Release Jump → quickly press Jump again

The second press launches you forward and upward and releases the grapple.

Your viewing direction influences the launch, so where you're looking matters.

This one can take a few attempts to learn.

If you're ten tries deep and preparing a bug report, there is a statistically significant possibility that the bug is located between the keyboard and the chair.

Ninja certification is not included.

Point-to-Point Traversal

The standard Flow grapple automatically releases before you reach the anchor so your existing momentum can continue into another movement.

This makes it possible to chain grapples between rooftops, cliffs, caves, structures, trees, or anything else providing a usable anchor.

Combine normal grapples with upward releases, persistent hanging, and the traversal boost to choose how aggressively you move through an area.

And with enough momentum, you may occasionally find yourself moving across rooftops like Spi…

…a ninja.

A ninja.

Point-to-Point Traversal

Wrist Break (Fast refire, shadows grapple twice.)

You do not need to wait for a missed grapple to completely return.

If the hook is still flying or retracting, press Use again to immediately replace it with a new shot.

Miss fast. Recover faster.

Wrist Break

Rope Snare (Mob grapple, yes, the rope snares things.)

Yes, you can grapple mobs.

Normal living mobs can be hooked and pulled toward you.

Tap a mob:
Pull it toward you and automatically release it once it gets close.

Hold the original grapple input:
Keep the mob tethered near you until you release it.

The hook impact also deals a small amount of damage.

Practical combat technique?

Sometimes.

Pulling a zombie off a ledge because you can?

Also valid.

Players Cannot Be Grappled

PvP kidnapping was considered for roughly four seconds before common sense arrived.

Other players cannot be pulled with the hook.

Bosses and Heavy Mobs

Bosses and oversized heavy mobs cannot be dragged around by the grapple.

You are a ninja, not a tow truck.

Rope Snare

Silent Tabi (Fall protection, the ground doesn’t need to know.)

While the tool is in use/active it provides temporary protection from grapple-related fall damage.

The protection remains through the grapple sequence and your next stable landing, including situations where you briefly touch terrain while still moving.

It's meant to prevent the grappling hook from punishing you for doing exactly what a grappling hook encourages you to do.

It is not permanent fall-damage immunity.

Or is it?

Silent Tabi

Crafting

Requires a Crafting Table.
