Abort (Emergency Menu Reset)

A lightweight client-side Fabric mod designed to break you out of frozen, hung, or unresponsive GUI screens in Minecraft without having to force-kill the Java process or Alt-Tab.

The Problem

Minecraft occasionally hangs on main-thread file I/O operations. When this happens, standard GUI buttons and the regular ESC key stop responding, soft-locking your client.

The Solution

Abort hooks into hardware inputs at the low-level GLFW render loop level, allowing it to bypass frozen GUI input listeners entirely.

Hotkey

Press Alt + Backspace at any time:

• Screen Reset: Instantly clears all active GUI screen layers.
• Safe Disconnect: Safely closes world handles if stuck inside a saving state.
• Main Menu Exit: Forces Minecraft to render the main title screen cleanly.

• Client-Side Only: No server-side installation required. Works on singleplayer worlds and multiplayer servers.
• No OS Conflicts: Uses Alt + Backspace specifically to prevent native Windows system shortcut traps (unlike Alt + Esc).
