Bee Rider

A lightweight Spigot/Paper plugin that turns Minecraft bees into rideable mounts with a full progression system, GUI management, and flight mechanics.

What is BeeRider?

BeeRider lets players mount and steer bees using look-to-fly controls. Open a Bee Panel on right-click to inspect, heal, poison, harvest nectar, or saddle up.
Every flight earns XP, every perk stacks, and every bee can become a BeeZilla.




For Players
How to Ride

1. Find a bee in the wild.
2. Right-click with an empty hand to open the Bee Panel.
3. Click the saddle to mount.
4. Look where you want to go — the bee follows your gaze.
5. Sneak to dismount safely.

Level Up
Earn XP by doing bee things (default values):

• Planting flowers (+0.5)
• Feeding flowers to bees (+3.0)
• Healing bees with the panel (+5.0)
• Flying time (+2.0 per minute)
• Poisoning or killing bees costs XP (be good to your hive!)

HUD
While mounted, your action bar shows:

• Left: Wind Dash cooldown (or READY)
• Right: Hover state (ON / off)

:: Commands ::

• /beerider — Open your profile (rides, level, alignment, perks).
• /beerider help — Open the in-game BeeRider Bible.
• /beerider name <name> — Name your bee (Lv. 8+).
• /beerider size <small|medium|big|huge|beezilla> — Set mount size.
• /beerider tandem <lock|unlock> — Toggle passenger access (Lv. 29+).

Alignment
Heal bees to become Good. Poison or kill them to become Chaotic. Your alignment is displayed in your profile.


Permissions
- beerider.use :: false by default
- beerider.reload :: false by default

Note: Server owners must explicitly grant this permission. It is not given by default.



:: Configuration::

• config.yml — Core mechanics:
  • XP sources and multipliers
  • Flight speed, tick-rate, hover ascend
  • Level definitions (xp / rides / minutes / title / perk)
  • Sound mappings, GUI slots, and particle settings

• lang/messages_en.yml — Fully localizable. Copy to messages_fr.yml, messages_de.yml, etc. and point to them in config if you expand localization support.

• riders.yml — Flat-file player storage (rides, XP, level, custom name, size preference, tandem lock).

• backpacks/ — Per-player BeeBack inventories.

Key Configurable Mechanics

• mechanics.flight.* — Speed, Y-bias, descend dampening, tick rate.
• mechanics.xp.* — Fine-tune every XP source.
• mechanics.bee-scale.* — Size thresholds and multipliers.
• progression.levels — Edit or expand the 40-level ladder freely; the in-game Bible auto-generates from this list.
• timing.autosave-minutes — How often riders.yml syncs to disk.

Performance Notes

• The flight controller runs on a configurable tick rate (default every tick). You can raise tick-rate for lower CPU usage on large servers.
• Backpacks and rider data are cached in memory and saved asynchronously on autosave or logout.

:: Installation ::

- Drop BeeRider-1.0.jar into your server's plugins/ folder.
- Start the server once to generate config.yml and riders.yml.
- Edit config.yml to taste and /reload or restart.
- Grant beerider.use to players via your permissions plugin.
