Bee Rider

A lightweight Spigot/Paper plugin that turns Minecraft bees into rideable mounts with a full progression system, GUI management, and flight mechanics.

What is BeeRider?

BeeRider lets players mount and steer bees using look-to-fly controls. Open a Bee Panel on right-click to inspect, heal, poison, harvest nectar, or saddle up. Gain XP, level up, and unlock perks as you ride.



Features

- Ride any bee — Look where you want to fly. The bee follows your gaze.

- Bee Panel GUI — 9-slot inventory to inspect all statistics | heal | poison | kill | harvest nectar | toggle awareness, or mount.

- XP & Leveling — Earn XP by feeding flowers, healing bees, and flying. Levels unlock titles and perks.

- Flight Experience Tracking — Total ride time, number of rides, bees healed, and bees removed are all persisted per-player.

- Bee Panel Lore — Fully configurable item lore with placeholders like {health}, {nectar}, {anger}, etc.

- Player Profile GUI — /beerider opens a GUI showing your statistics, XP bar, and title.

- BeeRider's Bible — In-game written book with all instructions (/beerider help).

- Auto-save — Profiles saved to YAML on change and on shutdown.

- Fully configurable — Messages, sounds, XP values, level requirements, flower types, and flight physics via config.yml.

- /beerider :: Opens your rider profile GUI.
- /beerider help :: Opens the BeeRider's Bible (written book).

Permissions
- beerider.use :: false by default

Note: Server owners must explicitly grant this permission. It is not given by default.


:: How to Use ::

- Find a bee in the wild.
- Right-click the bee to open the Bee Panel.
- Use the panel to inspect stats, heal, harvest nectar, toggle awareness, or click the saddle to mount.
- Look around while riding — the bee flies where you look.
- Shift to dismount. Your flight time and XP are saved automatically.
- Type /beerider anytime to view your profile and level progress.

Levels require XP, total rides, and flight minutes together.
- 0 :: Novice :: Flight unlocked
- 1 :: Rider
- 2 :: Whisperer :: Mounting clears bee anger
- 3 :: Drone
- 4 :: Iron Wings :: Bee gains Resistance IV while ridden
- 5 :: Royal Jelly :: Bee regenerates health over time
- 6 :: Swarm Lord :: Double XP gains

All gates are configurable in config.yml.
Configuration Highlights

Everything lives in config.yml:

- mechanics.flight.speed — How fast the bee flies.
- mechanics.flight.y-bias — Gentle upward lift while looking forward.
- mechanics.xp.on-flower / on-heal / on-poison — XP tuning.
- progression.levels — Full level requirement table (XP, rides, minutes).
- progression.broadcast — Broadcast level-ups server-wide or keep private.
- gui.inventory-title / gui.lore.* / gui.slots.* — Customize the Bee Panel appearance and lore.
- sounds.* — Per-action sound effects with volume, pitch, and target (player/bee/both).

:: Installation ::

- Drop BeeRider-1.0.jar into your server's plugins/ folder.
- Start the server once to generate config.yml and riders.yml.
- Edit config.yml to taste and /reload or restart.
- Grant beerider.use to players via your permissions plugin.

Compatibility

Java 17+
Spigot / Paper 1.20+ (developed on 1.20.4–1.21.x)
Uses modern Bukkit API with defensive fallbacks for transitional builds.
