Creature Variety for 1.17.1 - Random Mobs (Over 2800 Textures!)

16x Minecraft 1.17.1 Experimental Texture Pack

⬇ Download

This resource pack requires the latest OptiFine version.
1.17.1 OptiFine HD U H1 pre6
1.16.5 OptiFine HD U G8
1.15.2 OptiFine HD U G6

For this pack to work properly, these OptiFine options must be ON: Custom Entity Models and Random Entities, which are both on the Quality menu inside Video Settings.

It always bugged me how every single creature was always the same. With this pack i just wanted to add variation to Minecraft, to make it more natural.

Now all mobs have variations, ones more than others. Things that can variate are colors and textures and models. Some entity models are changed to assist on randomization, like zombies having separate models for clothing and skins so i don't have to make a texture for every combination of clothes and skin tones. Some creature have blinking animations, but not all of them yet. Textures usually are different based on biomes and height (so it won't work properly on flat worlds).

Remember to come back from time to time so you can have the latest version!

NAMING

PETS

These are a list of named variants that change pet collars to create different kind of clothing, they are dyeable. They work using symbols, so you just have to copy and paste them in a nametag next to your pet's name.
You can use a symbol more than once, but you shouldn't mix name symbols with each other.

Cats & Wolves
♤= Bandana - Can also be activated by adding Bandana to the name. PREVIEW
♢= Coat - Can also be activated by adding Coat to the name. PREVIEW
♡= Sweater - Can also be activated by adding Sweater to the name PREVIEW (Cats only)
⬫= No collar - Can also be activated by adding Wild to the name.
-
⬩= Shoes - Can also be activated by adding Shoe or Boot to the name. PREVIEW

Shoe Combinations:

♠= Bandana & Shoes
♦= Coat
& Shoes
♥= Sweater
& Shoes (Cats only)
⬪= No collar
& Shoes

Nametag Exclusive Textures
Textures that you'll never see unless you use nametags. Too unnatural or out of place to spawn normally.
Not all of the named textures are listed YET

Non Nametag Exclusive Textures
Textures that you might see naturally, some rarer than others. You can force them to appear via nametags.
Not all of the named textures are listed YET

3D VERSION AND OTHER OPTIONS:
Not Working In 1.17.X
The 3D Version adds models that are just for looks and don't affect randomization.
Changes
- Pigs have a tail that pop out a little bit
- Chickens have 3D legs
- Skeletons, Whither Skeletons and Strays have 3D bones

There's a file called OPTIONS inside the .zip. It gives instructions on how to customize the resource pack if there's a feature that you REALLY don't want. I don't recommend changing anything because you would have to do it every time I release a new update, but the option is there.
Options
- NO PIGLIN SKELETONS IN THE NETHER
This will get rid of the Piglin variants of skeletons in The Nether.

- NO PIXEL PERFECT GHASTS
This will bring back the old Ghast texture (with no face variants).

Compatibility and special interactions.

A lot of the textures implemented in this pack can, and sometimes have to, be summoned using name tags and proper naming. This could be used to change certain mobs from Data Packs to give them unique textures.
If you find special interactions that aren't listed bellow let me know! And if you find a Data Pack that needs compatibility let me know too! Remember that I can only change the textures if the entity has a name on its head.

Data Packs
Immersive Beekeeping (Gives the Apiarist a beekeeper outfit and gives the Queen Bee a new model)
True Survival or Lumberjack Villager (Gives the Lumberjack a nice sexy outfit)
Baker Villager (Gives the Baker a proper outfit)
Furnace Golem (Gives the Furnace Golem a proper texture)
EverSource (Gives EverSource a proper texture)
Mods
Sadly, you can't add random textures to mods that add mobs. The only thing I can do is edit the original texture. The only way to add randomization would be if the mod or plugin spawns vanilla entities that are named, and that doesn't happen often.

If you want to report a bug please do it in the comments. If you want to contribute to this pack you can do so by sending me your textures and I will make sure to check them out to see if they fit or not, and maybe make some tweaks so it's more in line with everything else. If I decide to add them you will be credited of course!
And leave feedback too! If there's a texture you don't like, remember that I could just make it harder to find rather than remove it.
