Cross-version pack compatibility for resource packs from Minecraft 1.8.9 to the latest version.

A pack made for 1.21 can run on 1.8.9. A pack made for 1.8.9 can run on modern Minecraft. ViaPacks converts folder layouts, renamed textures, models, languages, and pack_format automatically. You enable a pack, and it just works.
It also gives pack authors a proper way to credit their work, and a way to ship packs that require ViaPacks so they only apply when the mod is installed.

Cross-version compatibility
Stop juggling “1.8 only”, “1.12 only”, and “1.21 only” downloads. Author once; players use the same pack on many versions.
No more red “incompatible” packs
With ViaPacks installed, packs aren’t blocked for being the “wrong” format. Instead, the mod adapts them to the version you’re playing.
Credit for pack authors
ViaPacks packs can show a clean author line in the resource pack menu, including the author’s Minecraft skin head, so creators get visible credit.
Packs that require ViaPacks
Authors can put the real content in a hidden viapacks/ folder. Without the mod, the pack still appears in the list (with a “requires ViaPacks” message) but applies nothing. With the mod, it unlocks and converts for your game version.

Ship a ViaPacks pack like this:

Players without ViaPacks see the pack, but get no textures. Players with ViaPacks get the full pack, converted to their Minecraft version.
