Stuttering Screen Protection
Offer protection from all forms of damage when the player experiences significant performance drops (low FPS).
I don't know my version or loader
Open the Minecraft launcher and look at the profile you play on — it names both, like fabric-loader-1.21.4. The version also shows in the bottom-right corner of the game's main menu.
No loader in the profile name? Then it's plain Minecraft, and these mods won't run — you need Fabric or NeoForge installed first.
🛡️ What does this mod do?
- This mod protects you from all sources of damage when your computer experiences frame drops — from small stutters lasting 0.25 seconds to severe, continuous freezes — by monitoring the game's FPS.
- While playing a self-made modpack with friends, I encountered frustrating performance issues. After searching extensively, I realized there wasn’t any Forge mod that could protect players during lag spikes. That why I decided to make one myself.
- I had to work painfully with Notepad++ and manually run the mod through CMD instead of using any IDE that supports Minecraft modding, all because of my potato pc. So please download it. 😭😭
- Requires installation on both server and client.
- Please let me know if you encounter any unexpected bugs or issues.
🎥 Video
- The video below only demonstrates the mod's ability to protect players from all damage sources. As of version 2.0.0, the option to manually adjust the lag threshold has been removed from the config (see the Config section below).
🔧 Configuration
(You’ll need to install the Cloth Config mod to access the configuration menu)- Use the command /lagprotection-config to open the config menu, or if you don't have Cloth Config installed, manually edit the configuration file. Changing the config only affects the client side, so modifying it in the server folder will have no effect.- By default, the protection activates when your FPS drops to 10 or below, and remains active for 5 more seconds after your FPS returns to normal.
- Starting from version 2.0.0, the Cloth Config API mod is no longer required for configuration. You can simply use the command
/stutterprotection-hud true/false(default is true) to toggle the FPS display.
🔓 Permissions
- Feel free to use this mod and include it in your own modpacks if you'd like.
