CChat is a complete chat management and moderation plugin — filtering, formatting, channels, broadcasts, punishments and staff tools in a single jar that runs on 1.8 all the way to 26.2.
Everything runs server side, so every client and every client version is supported. No mods, no datapacks, no paid tiers, no "download the special build for your version from Discord". Drop the jar in, restart, done.
Minecraft version numbers should never decide the quality of a plugin.
A chat filter does not need new game code to keep working — it needs a developer who keeps it working. Every part of CChat that touches Minecraft internals sits behind a compatibility layer, so a new game drop means an afternoon of testing, not a rewrite. When Mojang ships, CChat ships.Click to expand...
The version problem — and why CChat doesn't have it
In 2026 Mojang dropped the old 1.x numbering. 1.21.11 was the last release of the old scheme; 26.1 (March 2026) replaced what would have been "1.22", and 26.2 — "Chaos Cubed" — arrived in June 2026. The format is now year.drop.hotfix.
That change broke a lot of assumptions, and a lot of plugins. Most chat plugins fall into one of three traps:
- Frozen in time — the public jar was last updated years ago and simply refuses to load on modern servers.
- Cut off the past — the "modern" rebuild dropped 1.8–1.16 support, abandoning legacy PvP, minigame and anarchy servers.
- Version roulette — a different jar for every branch, and the one you need is buried in a Discord channel.
CChat takes the boring, correct approach instead: one jar, one config, the entire range.
| Era | Versions | CChat |
| Legacy | 1.8 – 1.12.2 | ✅ Fully supported |
| Modern classic | 1.13 – 1.16.5 | ✅ Fully supported |
| Current-gen | 1.17 – 1.21.11 | ✅ Fully supported |
| Calendar versions | 26.1, 26.2 | ✅ Fully supported |
| Everything next | 26.3 and beyond | ✅ Supported on release |
Same features on 1.8 as on 26.2. Where a version genuinely cannot do something — boss bars and titles don't exist in 1.8 — CChat detects it and degrades gracefully instead of throwing a stack trace at your console.

⚔️ Coming from another chat plugin?
The old standards earned their reputation, but most of them are stuck: releases frozen since 2022, Paper-only rebuilds, hard dependencies on Vault and a permissions plugin, and review sections full of "please update to 1.21".
| Typical chat plugin | CChat | |
| Version range | Split across old/new jars, gaps in between | 1.8 → 26.2 in one jar |
| Updates | Public release years behind | Active, ships with every game drop |
| Server software | Modern builds are Paper-only | Spigot and Paper, plus every fork |
| Dependencies | Vault + permissions plugin required | Zero required — Vault, LuckPerms and PlaceholderAPI optional |
| Punishments | Not included | Built-in mute / warn / ban with history |
| Commands | Can't be disabled — conflicts with EssentialsX | Every command and module can be switched off |

✨ Features
️ Chat protection
- Anti-advertising — blocks IPs, domains and server links in chat, commands and on signs. URL whitelist, adjustable sensitivity, staff alerts, punishment commands.
- Anti-swear — catches joined words (YouAreAPieceOfCrap), spaced-out words (C r a p), leetspeak ($h1t) and unicode look-alikes. Edit the list in-game, whitelist words and commands.
- Anti-caps — percentage-based, with a minimum message length and an option to lowercase instead of block.
- Anti-spam — blocks repeated messages and commands, with separate cooldowns for each.
- Anti-unicode — stops fancy-font hack clients and characters used to slip past the other filters, with a whitelist for languages you allow.
- Anti-bot — chat and commands stay locked until the player moves, plus join-flood detection.
- Banned commands — deny any command per group, with staff alerts.
- Full logging — chat, commands, signs, advertising hits and swear hits, each to its own file.
Moderation & punishments
- Mutes — timed or permanent, with reason and staff name.
- Warnings — stack them, and auto-escalate to mute or ban at a threshold you set.
- Chat bans — CChat's own storage, so it never fights your ban plugin.
- History — /cchat history <player> shows every punishment, who issued it and why.
- YAML out of the box, MySQL for networks — share punishments across every backend server.
Chat formatting & channels
- Per-group chat format, applied automatically by permission group with a default fallback.
- Hex colors and gradients on modern versions, safely downgraded to the nearest legacy color on 1.8–1.15.
- Chat radius — local, world and global channels with custom range, per-channel symbols and spy mode.
- Per-world chat with world groups, so linked worlds still talk to each other.
- Sign colors, permission-gated.
- Placeholders — a full built-in set, plus PlaceholderAPI support in every message.
Communication
- Auto-broadcast — global or per-world, through chat, action bar, title or boss bar, each with its own interval, prefix, header/footer and sound.
- Broadcast, announcement and warning commands, each with its own styling and sound.
- Private messages — /msg and /reply with custom format, hover text, receive sound and vanish/ignore awareness (EssentialsX, SuperVanish, PremiumVanish).
- Social spy & command spy, with bypass permissions.
- Mentions — @Player pings with sound and title, plus @everyone for staff.
- Chat bot — auto-answers common questions, optionally running commands, permission-gated per response.
- Custom messages — join, first-join and quit per group, with titles, action bars, sounds and a configurable MOTD.
- Server rules, clear chat, mute chat, grammar correction, /online, /stafflist and /ping.
Built for server owners
- Every module and command can be turned off — CChat never fights EssentialsX or your existing setup.
- Async by design — filters run off the main thread; no TPS cost on a busy chat.
- Fully translatable — English and Russian included, every string in messages.yml.
- Live reload — /cchat reload applies config changes without a restart.
- Developer API — hook into filter events, punishments and chat formatting from your own plugin.

Quick Start
- Drop the jar into /plugins and restart the server.
- That's it — sensible defaults are active immediately: swear filter, anti-caps, anti-spam and anti-advertising.
- Open config.yml and switch on what you need. Every option is documented right in the file.
- (Optional) Install Vault + LuckPerms for per-group chat formatting and PlaceholderAPI for thousands of extra placeholders. Neither is required.
Migrating from ChatManager
- Stop the server and remove the old jar.
- Drop CChat in, and leave the old plugin folder in place.
- Start up — CChat imports your swear list, formats and broadcasts, then writes a report to the console.
- Check config.yml, delete the old folder, done.

Some Advice
- CChat needs no dependencies to run. Vault, LuckPerms, PlaceholderAPI, EssentialsX and the vanish plugins are detected automatically and used only if present.
- Running a proxy network? Set storage.type: MYSQL and point every backend at the same database — mutes, warns and bans follow the player everywhere.
- Avoid /reload. Use /cchat reload for config changes and restart the server for plugin updates.
- On version support, honestly: CChat covers 1.8 through 26.2 because the plugin is kept up to date, not because of a trick. Features a given version physically cannot render — boss bars before 1.9, hex colors before 1.16 — are detected and downgraded to the closest equivalent, and the console tells you exactly what it did. Nothing silently fails.
- Found a bug on a new game drop? Report it — new versions get fixed first, not "eventually".
