Underground Mining Minigame (Cobblemon)

This mod adds rare excavation spots randomly to stone, deepslate, sandstone, netherrack and more. Occasionally, these blocks emit a faint sparkle. Interacting starts an excavation instead of normal mining.

The mechanic is inspired by the Pokémon Underground.

Excavation

An excavation is a limited interaction with a hidden wall structure. You remove layers to uncover buried items while managing wall stability.

You can choose between a precise tool that clears single tiles in a cross shape or a heavier tool that clears a wider area at higher cost. Each action reduces stability. When stability reaches zero, the wall collapses and remaining items are lost.

Loot Integration

The mod works as a standalone feature and integrates with modpacks.

Vanilla Loot: In vanilla environments, excavation can yield items such as diamonds, netherite scraps, enchanted golden apples, and music discs.

Mod Compatibility: With Cobblemon and Mega Showdown installed, excavation sites can contain:

• Fossils
• Evolution stones
• Relic statues
• Crown fragments
• Mega Stones
• Key Stones
• Tera Shards

Additional mod items can be added through configuration.

Configuration

Configure anything you want in the pickaxeminigame.json:

• Sparkle spawn frequency
• Wall stability scaling
• Loot tables and rarity (higher rarity means less likely to spawn)
• Server specific settings like spawn radius
• Rare Spots, their size, rate of appearance and rarity modifier
