Upgraded Mobs Data Pack (1.21.11, 1.20.1) – New Attacks and Abilities to Mobs

Upgraded Mobs Data Pack is a data pack that adds new attacks, mechanics, and features to many of the mobs you know and love. Have you ever felt that after a while, Minecraft gets too easy? Have you ever wished that you could make it more challenging without the glass cannon nature of the hard difficulty? Have you ever found fighting mobs boring and monotonous due to their simplistic nature? If the answer to any of those questions is yes, this is the data pack for you.

Features:

Upgraded Mobs Overview

All mobs have increased follow range and slightly higher movement speed, making encounters more challenging.

Zombies

Zombies, including drowned, husks, and zombie villagers, receive the following upgrades:

• All zombies can break doors on any difficulty.
• They periodically dash at nearby players.
• Their dash includes a bite attack that deals extra damage and quickly wears down shields.

Drowned

In addition to the zombie upgrades, drowned gain:

• Increased swimming speed.
• The ability to pull players underwater if water is below them, even when the player is in a boat.

Elder Guardians

Elder Guardians are now treated as boss mobs with significant improvements:

• 300 HP, equal to the Wither.
• Can periodically inflict weakness, slowness, or blindness on a random player.
• If no other guardians are nearby, they summon short-lived mini-guardians.
• Below half HP, they periodically turn invisible.

Evokers

Evokers are upgraded into mini-bosses with enhanced capabilities:

• 150 HP, and Regeneration I when below half HP.
• Hold a Totem of Undying in their off-hand that must be activated before death.
• Fang attacks are followed by two extra waves of fangs.
• Vexes die immediately if no evokers are nearby.
• Optional raid loot toggle functions:
  • /function upgradedmobs:evokers/raid_loot/enable
  • /function upgradedmobs:evokers/raid_loot/disable

  When enabled, raid-spawned evokers drop golden apples, enchanted books, lapis lazuli, or the Sentry armor trim instead of a totem.

Piglin Brutes

Brutes are more resistant and aggressive:

• 75% knockback resistance.
• Periodic dashes toward nearby players.
• Can throw the closest player or wither skeleton into the air.
• Occasionally spawn with netherite armor or knockback-enchanted axes.

Pillagers

Pillagers are more dangerous in combat:

• Some shoot weakness arrows or firework rockets.
• Some wield crossbows with Quick Charge II.
• Upgrades occur more frequently during raids.

Spiders

Spiders now include additional mechanics:

• Periodic dash attacks toward players.
• Ability to trap players in temporary cobwebs.

Witches

Witches are tougher and more unpredictable:

• 60 HP.
• 25% chance for splash potions to become lingering potions.
• 10% chance for nearby players to be affected by blindness.

Configuration

Customization options are available by editing the datapack directly:

• Use # at the start of a command line in .mcfunction files to disable it.
• Add mobs to tags like upgradedmobs:spiders to include modded entities.
• Adjust random probabilities by editing or creating predicate files.
• Exclude specific mobs (e.g., custom bosses) with the upgradedmobs.blacklist tag.

Uninstallation

To uninstall, remove the datapack from your world. Note that any buffs already applied to existing mobs (HP, follow range, speed, etc.) will not revert.
