Bedrolls
The author built this one for Minecraft 1.21.1 on NeoForge. On other versions it may install and then do nothing.
Bedrolls
Survival just got harder. Beds no longer save your spawn - only bedrolls do.
Inspired by the respawn mechanics of Conan Exiles, Bedrolls overhaul how respawning works in Minecraft. Beds are reduced to decoration. Nights must be endured, not skipped. Your spawn point is no longer a given - it's a decision.
Features
Bedroll Block
Craft a bedroll from 3 leather. Place it in the world to set your respawn point - no sleeping, no skipping the night. Right-click an existing bedroll to update your spawn.
Custom Death Screen
When you die, you'll see a redesigned death screen with clear options:
- Respawn at bedroll - return to your bedroll (button disabled if you don't have one)
- Respawn at Respawn Anchor - works seamlessly with vanilla respawn anchors, including charged tracking (button disabled if no charges remain)
- Respawn at World Spawn - always available as a fallback
- Title Screen - normal rage-quit button :)
Beds Disabled
Vanilla beds can still be placed for decoration but can no longer be slept in or used to set spawn. Bed explosions in the Nether and End still work as expected.
Nether & End Behavior (Confiurable) Bedrolls respect the danger of other dimensions. Server operators can choose how bedrolls behave in the Nether and End via config:
- ALLOW (default) - Bedrolls can be placed for decoration, but won't set spawn. Right-clicking a placed bedroll causes an explosion.
- EXPLODE - Bedrolls explode immediately on placement.
- DISALLOW - Bedrolls cannot be placed at all.
Respawn Anchor Support
Full compatibility with vanilla respawn anchors. The death screen dynamically updates to reflect whether your spawn is a bedroll, a charged anchor, a depleted anchor, or nothing at all.
Crafting
Three leather in a row:

Configuration
Found in config/bedrolls-common.toml
netherBedrollBehavior = "ALLOW" # Options: ALLOW, EXPLODE, DISALLOW
Compatibility
- NeoForge 1.21.1
- Works alongside respawn anchors
- Meant to be compatible with any/all mods (report conflicts here
- Required on server and client
A Note from the Developer
This is my first public Minecraft mod! I built it because I wanted a survival experience where nighttime is something you endure, not skip. Originally designed for the TussleCraft modpack where nighttime is meant to be a stressful and difficult experience.
If you run into any bugs, have suggestions, or just want to share feedback, I welcome it all. Bug reports and constructive criticism are welcome on GitHub. This includes any critiques on coding style, or methods of accomplishing the goals of the mod.
Thanks for trying Bedrolls!
