Random Weather

True Randomness: Unlike other mods that rely on fixed timers, this system ensures you never know whether it will rain, storm, or clear up. It brings a dynamic and unpredictable atmosphere to your world.

Status: The mod is stable but currently in beta. We invite everyone to test it and share your feedback!

Version 1.0.6 Update: Please monitor compatibility with the Serene Seasons mod and report any issues.

Version 1.2.7: changes maximum weather duration from 8 hours to 9 hours,  providing a better balance for dynamic gameplay. Because daytime hours are 10 minutes long and nighttime hours are another 10 minutes long, droughts could only last a few days/nights, which didn't reflect reality. Please keep in mind that weather can now last for a very long time. If you experience prolonged conditions, don't panic—it's not a bug, but a feature of the new pressure system (high/low pressure.

Version 1.2.2: Change The minimum weather duration is now set to 1 minute, Removed the weather randomization function upon re-entering the world, as it conflicted with the background timer. Weather states now maintain full continuity across game sessions. Important Note on Sleeping: Sleeping in a bed will still trigger a weather randomization (similar to the old world-join behavior). However, this is an intentional design choice to prevent the weather from always unfairly resetting to clear skies every time you wake up.

 

Thanks to this, you will experience everything from short, scattered showers and storms, to moderate-duration weather, and even long-lasting, continuous atmospheric fronts. Sunny, dry days are also common, representing periods of high pressure.

Important Notes

World Settings: Ensure that cheats are enabled in your world settings for the mod to function correctly.

OptiFine: If you use OptiFine, ensure that "Weather" is set to ON in your video settings; otherwise, weather effects may not be visible.

Mechanism: This mod manages weather patterns by executing commands.

Sleep Mechanic: Sleeping in a bed will reset the current weather, as per standard Minecraft behavior. If you wish to keep the current weather cycle, avoid sleeping, or embrace the sunny morning!

From version 1.3:

Optimized Weather System: Weather changes no longer rely on console commands (/weather). The logic now runs entirely on direct Java API calls (WorldInfo API).

Command-Free Compatible: You can safely play on worlds with cheats completely disabled – the weather system will function perfectly while preserving a pure, vanilla survival experience!

Temperate Climate Design: The weather probabilities are carefully balanced to mimic a realistic temperate climate (approx. 60% clear days, 25% gentle rain, and 15% thunderstorms) for an immersive and natural survival atmosphere.

Version 1.3.3:

The barometer has been refined. I'm not entirely sure if it works flawlessly and it might need some further testing, but if there are any issues, please know that I did my absolute best to make it a great weather forecasting tool for the near future. If it works as intended, I'll be thrilled, as I poured a lot of work into it! Just a quick note: the forecast predicts the weather 12 in-game hours (12,000 ticks) ahead.

ℹ  Version 1.4:

Removed the Barometer: Decided to remove the barometer entirely to make the weather 100% unpredictable and let nature follow its own organic course. Furthermore, this prevents conflicting erratic behavior (such as rapidly flickering between sun and rain) caused by the dynamic weather system.

Serene Seasons: Fully compatible! Ideal for bringing season cycles to life.

Configuration: Set B:Change Weather Frequency to false in the Serene Seasons config. This allows our mod to take full control of the weather.

Dynamic Surroundings: Compatible!

Configuration: Set B:Enable Weather Control to false.

Weather2: Compatible.

Recommended Setup

To achieve the most immersive survival experience, I recommend the following:

Serene Seasons Duration: Set to 24 days per season. This provides a perfect balance between seasonal climates and the dynamic, unpredictable weather changes provided by this mod.

Recommended Add-on: I highly recommend installing Snow Real Magic. Combined, these mods transform your world into a living, breathing ecosystem where no two seasons — or two years — are ever the same.

Resetting Weather

By default, sleeping resets the weather. If you wish to prevent this, I recommend using Weather2, as its configuration allows you to disable weather resets during sleep.
