Project404.jar is a file retrieved from the hard drive of Ivan, a young developer found dead in his own basement. Investigators never managed to explain the circumstances of his death, but they discovered this JAR in his workspace. When they tried to copy it, the file began to chaotically rewrite its own code.

It was leaked online. Now it's in your hands.

🔍 What's inside

After loading the mod, you spawn into a normal Minecraft world. The first few days seem ordinary. But with each new in‑game day, strange things start to happen:

• ✉️ Messages appear in chat from a player who isn't on the list.
• 🔊 Sometimes you hear footsteps, laughter, or whispers.
• 👤 A figure may stalk you, disappearing the moment you look at it.
• 📦 Some items in your inventory change their names.
• 🌌 Anomalies appear in the sky.

These aren't random bugs. They are part of the script.

What else is hidden inside remains unknown – the investigators were never able to fully analyse the file. You will be the one to explore it.

📖 Story and progression

You will have to survive several in‑game days. Events unfold gradually, with each new day revealing the next piece of the story.

You will meet a character who calls himself EmptyPlayer404. He doesn't remember who he is, he is scared, and he seeks your protection. He will follow you, communicate through chat and voice‑overs, and ask for your help.

🎯 To advance the story, you need to:

• 🧩 Collect memory shards (4 pieces) hidden in special locations.
• 🎮 On certain days, you will be teleported into mini‑games – separate locations (the quiet house, the basement, the server room, the archive). Each of these is a fragment of Ivan's memories. In these places, you must survive and find the required shard.
• 🤝 You can bond with EmptyPlayer404 by giving him ores, flowers, or coal – this increases his trust in you.

Depending on whether you collect all the shards and fulfil additional conditions, you will reach one of the endings. There is a main ending and a secret one, unlocked under specific circumstances.

👾 Who is "The Kraken"?

He is the main antagonist of the story – the person behind Ivan's persecution. For most of the game, he appears as a living NPC: he can wander the world, watch you, attack in the mini‑games, and show up at key story moments. He is not a faceless threat – he has a voice, his own behaviour patterns, and clear goals.

But that is only one of his manifestations. His true essence is systematic psychological pressure, delivered through messages, sounds, world distortions, and direct intervention in gameplay.
