NetherSleep
Java mod listed for Minecraft 26.x. Downloads from the MC Java Mods app on Android.
⬇ Download on Spigot
Stops beds from exploding in the Nether and lets players actually sleep in them.
PAPER 26.1 / 26.2 • JAVA 25+ • LIGHTWEIGHT — NO BUNDLED LIBRARIES
The Nether has no day-night cycle of its own, so NetherSleep borrows one from the linked Overworld: sleep only works at night or during a thunderstorm there, exactly like vanilla.
────────────────────────────────────────
- No more exploding beds — bed explosions are cancelled in every affected dimension.
- Real sleeping — players actually lie down and sleep, not just a cosmetic fix.
- Overworld-synced rules — sleeping is only allowed at night or during a thunderstorm in the linked Overworld.
- Night skipping that matters — when enough players sleep, the skipped night (and cleared weather) is applied to the linked Overworld instead of being wasted on a dimension with no day-night cycle.
- Respawn point support — right-clicking a bed sets your respawn point exactly like in the Overworld, with vanilla's own "Respawn point set" message.
- Every message editable — every single piece of text the plugin sends lives in config.yml.
────────────────────────────────────────
Requirements
- Paper 26.1 or 26.2
- Java 25 or newer
Setup
- Download the jar and drop it into your server's plugins folder.
- Start (or restart) your server. NetherSleep generates config.yml and worlds.yml on first run.
- Done — beds in the Nether stop exploding and start working, following your Overworld's day-night cycle.
NO EXTERNAL LIBRARIES BUNDLED — NOTHING ELSE TO INSTALL
────────────────────────────────────────
NetherSleep figures out which Overworld a Nether/End world belongs to by scanning your loaded worlds' names (e.g. world is paired with world_nether and world_the_end) — no setup needed for standard layouts.
If no Overworld can be matched, sleeping stays disabled for that world until one is configured. Regular players simply can't sleep there, no message, nothing broken. Anyone with the nethersleep.command permission is told to add a pairing instead.
worlds.yml
pairs:
nether_survival: survival
end_survival: survival
Only needed for non-standard world names — this always takes priority over the automatic name scan. Run /nethersleep status to see exactly which Overworld got matched to each affected world.
────────────────────────────────────────
settings:
prevent-bed-explosion: true
allow-sleeping: true
affected-worlds:
nether: true
end: false
require-night: true
mirror-time-skip: true
set-respawn-on-interact: true
- prevent-bed-explosion — stop beds from exploding in affected worlds.
- allow-sleeping — let players actually sleep in affected worlds.
- affected-worlds — which dimensions NetherSleep applies to.
- require-night — only allow sleep when it's night or storming in the linked Overworld.
- mirror-time-skip — a night skipped by sleeping players is applied to the linked Overworld, weather included.
- set-respawn-on-interact — right-clicking a bed sets your respawn point even if you can't sleep right now, matching vanilla's daytime behavior.
Every message NetherSleep sends — the chat prefix, denial messages, command output, action bar text — is also editable under the messages: section, using MiniMessage formatting (colors, gradients, bold, and more).
────────────────────────────────────────
/nethersleep reload (alias: /nsleep)
Reloads config.yml and worlds.yml without restarting the server.
/nethersleep status
Shows current settings, active integrations, and exactly which Overworld got matched to each affected world.
────────────────────────────────────────
- nethersleep.sleep (default: true) — allows sleeping in beds within affected dimensions.
- nethersleep.command (default: op) — allows use of /nethersleep.
- nethersleep.bypass (default: op) — bypasses WorldGuard region flags and GriefPrevention claim checks.
- nethersleep.* (default: op) — grants all of the above.
────────────────────────────────────────
NetherSleep works completely on its own. Each integration is an optional soft dependency and only activates when the corresponding plugin is installed.
PlaceholderAPI
%nethersleep_enabled%
%nethersleep_explosion_prevention_enabled%
%nethersleep_can_sleep%
%nethersleep_group% (requires LuckPerms)
WorldGuard
Registers a custom nether-sleep region flag (default: allow), so you can disable NetherSleep sleeping in specific regions.
GriefPrevention
Players need build trust in a claim to sleep in a bed placed inside it.
LuckPerms
Used by the PlaceholderAPI expansion to read a player's primary group.
────────────────────────────────────────
No more exploding beds. Just sleep, safely, wherever you are.
