Wanderlight — The Between
There is no portal. You craft a Mirror, you use it once, and it breaks in your hands as it drags you somewhere else.
The Between is a quiet, wrong place. Days are big. Nights belong to the Smilies — pale things that do not know where you are and have to find you. They hunt by sight and by sound: sprinting carries thirty blocks, walking fifteen, crouching four, standing still almost nothing. They watch. They circle. They stand and look at you for a long time, and you cannot tell from the outside which part of that is theatre.
Seal yourself in a hole and they will take the wall apart, one block at a time, and you will hear every block go.
Sleep, and it gets worse. You wake in an endless gothic library standing over a void — two walls of bookshelf climbing out of sight, towers of shelving in the gap between them, catwalks strung across the drop. Three Dreamers are hiding in there, disguised as furniture: a cat, a lectern, one bookshelf among ten thousand. Find one. Kill whatever comes out of it. That is the only way to wake up.

What's in it
- A full custom dimension with its own terrain, weather, compressed day/night cycle and a fog that is not decoration
- The Smilies — hunting AI built on real perception: line of sight, hearing radii by movement type, memory of where you were, and the ability to dig you out
- The Dreaming — a second dimension, entered only by sleeping, with a hidden-boss hunt at the centre of it
- Wards that nothing hostile crosses, and that burn down over time
- The Warded Spear — the one weapon that ends a Smiley
- The Effigy — a decoy they'll converge on while you're somewhere else
- The Ulthos — a charm that asks a question and means it, and binds itself to you
- Shapeshifters, water monsters, buried caches and a Journal that fills in as you learn
- The Warden's Ledger — an in-game book with 15 switches. Every creature and system can be turned off. Nothing here is forced on you.
