Ancient Recollections

Ancient Recollections: A Minecraft Story

Every mob you have ever fought has a history. Zombies, guardians, piglins, the Warden, even the Ender Dragon, none of them just appeared out of nowhere. They were all shaped by a civilization that came long before you, a people known only as the Builders.

Ancient Recollections adds 32 collectible lore cards to the game, each one a fragment of the Builders' story. Find them, read them, and slowly piece together a history that was never meant to be forgotten.

A Civilization Lost to Time

The story begins in the Age of Legends, when something not of this world gave the Builders their first companion, a small helper that would go on to aid them for generations. From there, the Builders rose through the Age of Civilization, tamed wolves, raised guardians, and built the first cities.

But every civilization has a turning point. Wars were fought. Experiments went too far. Tribes rose in the deserts and the oceans, and the Builders pushed further into places they never should have gone, the Nether, the End, the deep dark beneath the world. What they found there did not just change the world around them, it changed them too.

By the time you find the last card, you will understand why the world looks the way it does now, and why the Builders are nowhere to be found.

Discover the Cards

Cards are hidden in loot chests across the world, and some mobs will only drop their card if you defeat them yourself. When you find a new card, right click it to reveal its lore for the first time.

There are 32 cards in total, spanning Uncommon, Rare, Epic, and Legendary rarities. The rarer cards tend to hold the heaviest parts of the story. The rest of the Builders' history is out there waiting for you to find it yourself.

Carry Their Power

The Builders did not just leave behind stories, they left behind power. Every card carries a passive skill and an active skill drawn from the mob it represents. Passives echo that mob's natural strengths, things like fire resistance or regeneration. Active skills are where it gets interesting, from hurling fireballs and wither skulls to detonating like a Creeper.

Only one card's power can be active at a time, but nothing stops you from switching between them as you build your own collection of history and strength.

Wield the Lore Wand

To call on your active card's power, you will need the Lore Wand, crafted from a stick and two diamonds.

Your Journey Begins

This is my first addon, built around one simple idea, that Minecraft's history deserves to be explored, not just fought through. If you run into bugs or have thoughts on the story, I would love to hear them.

The Builders are gone, but their echoes remain. Go find them.
