ChestPin is a lightweight chest security plugin that allows players to protect their chests with a custom PIN code.
Unlike basic chest-locking plugins, ChestPin protects containers not only from being opened, but also from being destroyed, moved with pistons, or accessed through hoppers.
The plugin is designed for Paper/Purpur servers and also supports online-mode=false servers.
Features
When a player places a chest, ChestPin automatically saves that player as the chest owner.
To protect the chest, the owner uses:
/chestpin
The player then has a short amount of time to click the chest.
If the chest does not already have a PIN, the player can create one.
Once the PIN is set, the chest becomes protected.
Opening a Protected Chest
When someone tries to open a protected chest, a PIN dialog appears.
The chest will only open after the correct PIN has been entered.
Shift + Right Click cannot be used to bypass the protection.
Changing a PIN
The chest owner can use:
/chestpin
and click the protected chest.
They can then choose the option to change the PIN.
The current PIN must be entered before a new PIN can be created.
Removing a PIN
The owner can also completely remove the PIN.
The current PIN must be entered before the protection is removed.
After removing the PIN, the chest behaves like a normal Minecraft chest again.
Chest Ownership
Only the player who originally placed the chest can:
Chest ownership is stored directly inside the chest using Persistent Data Container data.
This means ownership is stored in the world itself instead of relying only on plugin configuration files.
Breaking Chests
Chest without a PIN
A chest without a PIN can be broken normally by any player.
Chest with a PIN
Once a PIN is set, the chest becomes protected.
Only the chest owner can destroy it.
The owner must first enter the correct PIN before breaking the chest.
A player who is not the owner cannot destroy the protected chest even if they know the PIN.
Hopper Protection
Protected chests cannot be bypassed using hoppers.
ChestPin monitors actual inventory transfers, not only hopper placement.
Unauthorized hoppers cannot:
Changing the chest PIN invalidates previous hopper authorization.
Piston Protection
Locked chests cannot be moved using pistons.
The plugin blocks both:
Unlocked chests behave normally.
Double Chests
Double chests are fully supported.
The protection applies to the entire connected chest instead of only one side.
Offline-Mode Support
ChestPin-Kosmo supports servers running with:
online-mode=false
The plugin stores both the player's UUID and name.
UUID is used as the primary identifier, while the player name can be used as a fallback on offline-mode servers.
Commands
/chestpin
Enables chest management mode.
After using the command, click your chest to:
Reloads the plugin configuration.
Permissions
chestpin.bypass
Allows selected administrative protection bypasses.
The permission is not automatically granted to operators and should be assigned manually using a permissions plugin such as LuckPerms.
Example:
/lp user PlayerName permission set chestpin.bypass true
Chest ownership restrictions remain intentionally strict to prevent administrators with wildcard permissions from accidentally claiming player chests.
Requirements
ChestPin provides a simple PIN-based security system without requiring players to understand complicated claim systems or region plugins.
Before a PIN is set, the chest behaves almost exactly like a normal Minecraft chest.
After a PIN is added, the plugin protects it from opening, breaking, hopper access, piston movement and common interaction bypasses.
