EMI Structures

EMI Structures is an addon for EMI that adds structure generation as an acquisition source for blocks and materials.

Instead of maintaining a fixed list of vanilla structures or supported blocks, EMI Structures analyzes supported structure data from Minecraft, installed mods, and datapacks. When a material is found in a supported structure, EMI can show that structure through its normal recipe and usage navigation.

Open a structure entry to see where it can generate and which materials can make it up.

How It Works

EMI Structures currently focuses on data-driven jigsaw structures.

Each discovered structure receives a single EMI recipe containing its generation information and an internally paginated material list. Materials discovered inside those structures are linked back through EMI, allowing normal recipe and usage lookups to answer questions such as:

What structures can generate this block?

and:

What materials can this structure contain?

Structure information can include:

Material amounts are estimates produced through multiple lightweight analysis passes. EMI Structures does not generate or sample real structures inside the player's world, and the displayed ranges should not be treated as exact guarantees for an individual generated structure.

Adaptive Structure Support

Structure support is discovered at runtime rather than maintained as a manual compatibility list.

Standard data-driven jigsaw structures from Minecraft, installed mods, and datapacks can therefore appear automatically when EMI Structures understands the structure data they use.

This also applies to materials. EMI Structures does not maintain a predefined catalog of supported vanilla or modded blocks. When a registered block is detected as part of a supported structure, Structure Generation is automatically added as an acquisition source for that block in EMI.

Version 0.1 does not support every possible structure-generation system. Mods that generate structures through custom or procedural systems may require additional support in future versions.

Structure Generation

Use EMI's normal recipe and usage lookup on a material to see supported structures that may generate it.

For example, looking up a material such as Mossy Cobblestone can expose a Structure Generation category containing the structures where that block was detected and the best estimated quantity information available.

Selecting a structure opens its structure page.

Structure Pages

Each supported structure has one EMI entry rather than creating a separate recipe for every structure and material combination.

Structure pages include generation information and an internally paginated visual material list. Materials remain normal EMI ingredients, so they can be inspected through EMI's usual recipe and usage navigation.

Depending on the available structure data, the page can show:

Container loot is intentionally excluded. Items found inside structure chests are loot-table results rather than blocks generated as part of the structure, and dedicated EMI loot addons already cover that information.

Material Estimates

Structure material quantities are estimates, not exact predictions of what a particular structure will contain when generated.

EMI Structures performs multiple lightweight analysis passes over supported structure data to build useful material ranges without generating actual structures in the player's world.

Variation in jigsaw piece selection, processors, placement conditions, and other generation behavior can cause real structures to differ from the displayed estimates.

World Generation

EMI Structures is informational only.

It does not:

It reads supported structure data and exposes that information through EMI.

Performance

Structure analysis is performed when the relevant world data becomes available.

Initial analysis time depends on the number and complexity of installed structures, particularly in larger modpacks. The analysis uses lightweight passes over structure data rather than generating structures in the world.

Once analysis is complete, normal EMI browsing uses the analyzed results rather than repeatedly rebuilding structure information.

Requirements and Compatibility

EMI Structures is an EMI addon and is not intended to function as a standalone recipe viewer.

Version 0.1 Limitations

Version 0.1 is primarily intended for singleplayer and integrated-server worlds.

Current limitations include:

If structure datapacks are changed during play, restarting the world before relying on updated EMI structure information is recommended for version 0.1.

Dedicated-server synchronization, datapack-reload rebuilding, and broader structure-system support are areas for future development.

About the Project

EMI Structures is developed by Silent Vector Studios.

The project is open source and is intended to complement EMI and other focused EMI addons rather than duplicate their functionality.

Feedback, bug reports, and examples of modded or datapack structures that do not analyze correctly are especially useful while structure support expands beyond the initial 0.1 release.

EMI Structures is released under GPL-3.0-only.
