⚠️ NOTICE ⚠️

This page description ONLY LISTS THE DIFFERENCES between base Collapsing Caves and this version.

This is the Sable description of Collapsing Caves. It does not repeat the parts that stay the same.

For that, go see Collapsing Caves. The other page has the full description.

Player getting pinned by a Cave-In

THIS MOD IS LIKELY TO HAVE BUGS AND ISSUES. REPORT ISSUES TO THE ISSUE TRACKER FOR REGULAR COLLAPSING CAVES BUT SPECIFY IF YOU'RE ON SABLE THE SABLE VERSION.

These parts do not change:

Sable & Sable: Ragdolls

Player getting knocked into a hole by a cave-in.

The mod does not start without Sable.

This is the one new mod that you must have.

However, Sable: Ragdolls is supported and recommended.

The Blocks Now Have Physics

This is the largest change.

A Cave-In From Afar

Before Now
A block fell straight down at two fifths of the usual speed. A block is a physics body. It turns while it falls.
A block stopped where it landed. A block hits the other blocks that fall with it, it rolls across the ground and it comes to rest where the physics put it.
The blocks made a flat layer. The blocks make a pile. Two cave-ins never give the same pile.

Each piece also receives a turn and a small push when it comes away from the ceiling. The pieces therefore come apart from each other, and they land on a corner and roll.

Groups Of Blocks

A cave-in no longer drops each block on its own. Some pieces are one block. Other pieces are a group of blocks that stay together and move as one body.

The mod keeps approximately 300 blocks as physics blocks while a cave-in continues. Above that number, the oldest blocks go back into the world to make room for the new ones. This keeps the speed of the server.

The Blocks Go Back Into The World

This is new. The blocks do not stay physics blocks for all time.

The blocks are also safe from a stop of the server. The mod writes a record with each piece into the world file. A piece from an earlier session comes back into the world when you return to that place.

Blocks cleaning themselves up.

Damage

The damage of a falling block is different. For this version, being hit by blocks does 1 heart of damage only.

The block must move at decent speed to harm you. This speed is the momentum built up when a block falls a height of one and one half blocks or more. A block at rest does no damage.

The blocks that lie on you are the greater danger. If the blocks cover you, suffocation causes more damage.

New Things To See And Hear

A cave-in now changes the air and the ground around you.

Motion sickness mode now stops the movement of the camera from a block as well as the shake of the screen.

Configuration

The settings file has a new name and more settings in it.

The new settings control these things:

Some settings are for your game only. The white ash, the dust, the fog and the movement of the camera are of this kind, and each player can hold a value of their own for them.
