Advance Repair
More ways to repair your gear. More choices. Same Minecraft progression.
Ever damaged your favorite gear and wished you had more options to repair it?
Advance Repair expands Minecraft's anvil repair system by allowing additional materials to restore durability to damaged equipment.
The goal isn't to make repairs free or ridiculously powerful.
The goal is to give you more choices while keeping Minecraft's progression and economy intact.
What Does Advance Repair Do?
Advance Repair adds alternative repair materials to the anvil.
Instead of being limited to the traditional repair material for an item, you can use other materials to restore a portion of its durability.
Different materials provide different repair amounts, so choosing what to use actually matters.
Example Repair Values
| Equipment Tier | Repair Material | Durability Restored |
|---|---|---|
| Netherite | Diamond | 80% |
| Netherite | Iron | 50% |
| Netherite | Gold | 40% |
| Netherite | Copper | 40% |
| Diamond | Iron | 60% |
| Diamond | Gold | 45% |
| Diamond | Copper | 40% |
| Iron | Gold | 70% |
| Iron | Copper | 40% |
| Leather | Leather | 100% |
| Chainmail | Chain | 60% |
| Chainmail | Iron | 50% |
These values are designed around the idea of useful alternatives rather than replacements for normal Minecraft progression.
Built With Economy in Mind
Advance Repair is designed to avoid making durability meaningless.
Repairs still require XP, and the cost can change depending on the item.
For example:
- Normal item → lower XP cost
- Enchanted item → higher XP cost
- Trimmed item → higher XP cost
- Enchanted + trimmed item → highest cost
This means powerful equipment still has a meaningful repair cost.
The purpose of the mod is to give you another option when you're low on the usual repair material — not to remove the resource economy entirely.
Repair Information
Wondering what you can use to repair an item?
Advance Repair adds repair information directly to item tooltips.
You'll be able to see things such as:
Repair with Diamond: 80%
Repair with Iron: 50%
XP Cost: 5–12 levels
No need to memorize every recipe.
Just look at the item.
Configurable Mod Support
Advance Repair isn't limited to vanilla Minecraft.
The mod includes a configurable Target Mod ID system that can be used to target equipment from another mod.
The repair system can identify equipment based on:
- Item tiers
- Armor materials
- Item names
- Mod namespaces
This allows Advance Repair to work with a wider variety of equipment instead of being permanently locked to vanilla items.
Why Make This Mod?
Minecraft's repair system works well, but sometimes you end up with an almost-broken item and don't have the exact material required to repair it.
Maybe you have:
A damaged diamond tool
No diamonds
Plenty of other resources
Advance Repair gives you another option.
Instead of throwing the item away or waiting until you find the exact resource, you can use an alternative material and accept a different repair efficiency.
The Philosophy
Advance Repair follows three simple ideas:
1. More Choices
Players should have more than one way to deal with damaged equipment.
2. Keep It Balanced
Alternative repairs shouldn't completely replace normal resource gathering.
3. Keep Minecraft Feeling Like Minecraft
The mod expands the existing anvil system instead of turning it into a completely different mechanic.
There's Something Hidden...
Advance Repair contains a small Easter egg.
It's not advertised.
It's not required.
And we're not going to tell you exactly how to find it.
If you discover it...
you'll know.
Development
Advance Repair is still being developed.
New ideas, improvements, balancing changes, and additional compatibility may be added over time.
Some features may change as the mod evolves, so we can't really concentrate on description, but we will try. Minecraft is about dream it and do it.
Current Status
Minecraft: 1.21.1
Mod Loader: NeoForge
Status: Active Development
Thanks For Playing
Advance Repair hasn't received an update in a while.
If you've been around since the earlier versions, thank you for sticking around.
We're still working on it.
There are more ideas coming.
And maybe...
the next update is closer than you think.
"Your gear isn't useless just because it's damaged."
