A brighter vision of Minecraft: Java Edition

Vibrant Vision is a shader pack inspired by Minecraft Bedrock Edition's Vibrant Visuals, recreated and expanded for Minecraft: Java Edition.

It enhances Minecraft with richer lighting, cleaner shadows, atmospheric skies, improved water, customizable materials, and greater depth while keeping the game's familiar blocky identity.

Bright. Familiar. Configurable.

About

Make Minecraft look more alive without making it stop looking like Minecraft.

Vibrant Vision is designed as a graphical upgrade rather than a complete visual replacement.

Minecraft's familiar blocks, textures, clouds, water, colors, and dimensions remain recognizable while receiving improved lighting, atmosphere, reflections, materials, and environmental effects.

Highlights

Performance Profiles

Profile Intended Use
FAST Maximum performance
BALANCED Improved visuals with moderate GPU cost
VIBRANT Recommended default experience
LUSH Higher-quality lighting, shadows, and effects
SHOWCASE Maximum visual quality and cinematic use

VIBRANT is recommended for first-time users.

Profiles provide convenient starting points, but individual settings can still be changed independently.

Lighting & Shadows

Vibrant Vision combines direct sunlight, ambient illumination, block lighting, indirect lighting, and environmental color to create a brighter and more dimensional world.

Features include:

Vibrant Vision Color Response

Instead of simply increasing saturation, Vibrant Vision adjusts different parts of the image independently to provide richer daylight, warmer sunlight, cooler shade, cleaner vegetation, clearer skies, and protected highlights.

The effect can be adjusted or disabled.

Clouds

Clouds intentionally retain their familiar Minecraft appearance.

Three styles are available:

Vibrant

The default Vibrant Vision style. Minecraft-like clouds receive illuminated edges and improved lighting for additional depth.

Faded

Adds a vertical transparency gradient for a softer and more atmospheric appearance.

Vanilla

Keeps clouds close to Minecraft's original appearance while allowing the rest of Vibrant Vision to remain enabled.

Water

Vibrant Vision improves water without replacing Minecraft's recognizable water texture.

Available settings include:

Water can range from relatively simple and transparent to significantly more reflective and detailed.

Atmosphere & Dimensions

Vibrant Vision provides environmental rendering for different times, weather conditions, and dimensions.

Features can include:

Overworld

The primary Vibrant Vision experience with enhanced daylight, weather, clouds, water, shadows, and atmosphere.

Nether

Custom lighting and atmospheric effects designed around the Nether's darker environment.

End

Separate rendering designed to preserve the strange and empty appearance of the End while giving it its own visual identity.

Most atmospheric effects can be adjusted or disabled individually.

Materials & PBR

Minecraft blocks remain recognizable while optional material effects provide additional surface detail and lighting response.

Depending on configuration and resource pack support, Vibrant Vision can provide:

Most advanced material effects are optional.

Flashlight & Extras

Vibrant Vision includes an optional Flashlight under the Extras settings.

It provides convenient illumination while exploring caves, structures, nighttime terrain, or other dark environments without requiring the shader's global lighting to be increased.

Customization

Vibrant Vision can be configured as a lightweight visual upgrade or pushed toward a much more advanced graphical experience.

Settings are organized into:

You can start with a performance profile and leave everything else untouched, or customize individual rendering systems in detail.

Performance Customization

Expensive effects can be adjusted individually, including:

Reducing individual effects can significantly improve performance without disabling the entire shader.

High-End Rendering

Capable hardware can enable additional rendering features such as:

The SHOWCASE profile prioritizes visual quality over gameplay performance.

Compatibility

Vibrant Vision is designed primarily for Iris Shaders on Minecraft: Java Edition.

Supported integrations include:

Compatibility may depend on the installed Minecraft, Iris, mod, shader, and resource-pack versions.

Installation

  1. Install Iris Shaders.
  2. Place the Vibrant Vision .zip inside your Minecraft shaderpacks folder.
  3. Open Minecraft and select Vibrant Vision from the shader pack menu.
  4. Start with the VIBRANT profile.
  5. Adjust settings for your hardware and preferences.

The shader pack does not need to be extracted.

Minimum & Recommended Specifications

Actual performance depends on resolution, render distance, world complexity, mods, resource packs, drivers, and enabled shader features.

Minimum

Designed around the FAST profile at 1080p and approximately 8–12 chunks.

For lower GPU usage, disable features such as colored-light volumes, voxel reflections, parallax mapping, very high shadow distances, and LOD rendering.

Recommended

Designed around the full VIBRANT experience at 1080p and approximately 12–20 chunks.

Use LUSH when additional GPU headroom is available.

Additional Requirements

These specifications are guidance rather than guaranteed frame-rate targets.

If performance is poor, start with FAST or BALANCED, reduce render distance, and increase individual effects gradually.
