NoFog
Removes the thick, close-range "snow globe" fog in the Nether and the void-fog style rendering in the End — no shaders, no resource pack, no client mods required.
How it works
The heavy Nether fog isn't a render-distance setting — it's a hardcoded
client rendering style tied to the dimension's effects field. This plugin
installs a small datapack that redefines the Nether and End dimension types
with the Overworld's render style, so the client draws normal distance fog
instead of the tight vanilla fog bubble.
Requirements
- Paper 1.21.11 (or compatible)
- A full server restart after first install (not
/reload) — dimension types are only read at boot, so this is a one-time requirement, not a bug.
Setup
- Drop the jar in
plugins/ - Start the server once (this installs the datapack)
- Fully stop and restart the server
- Done — check the Nether
Commands
/nofog install— manually (re)install the datapack/nofog status— check install status
