Bluei’s Better Visuals

Bluei’s Better Visuals is a shader pack for Minecraft Java Edition. It runs through Iris and changes the appearance of lighting, shadows, clouds, fog, water, the Nether, and the End. It does not change gameplay.

Styles and Settings

Vanilla is the default style. It uses Minecraft’s normal sun, moon, and moon phases with warm daylight, cooler shadows, volumetric clouds, and distance fog.

Fantasy is an optional style with stronger colors and additional sky effects.

Vanilla and Fantasy each include Potato, Low, Medium, High, Ultra High, and Extreme quality profiles. Individual settings can also be adjusted.

Water

Water includes animated waves, foam, refraction, caustics, and screen space reflections.

Screen space reflections can only show objects that are currently rendered on screen. Reflections may disappear near screen edges or when an object is outside the camera view.

Requirements

Iris Shaders is required. Sodium is recommended.

Separate downloads are provided for macOS and Windows. Install the file labelled for your operating system. Linux has not been tested.

Installation

1. Install Iris.

2. Place the downloaded ZIP inside the shaderpacks folder.

3. Do not extract the ZIP.

4. Select Bluei’s Better Visuals from the Iris shader menu.

Performance

Performance depends on the computer, resolution, render distance, world, mods, resource packs, and selected settings. A specific frame rate is not guaranteed.

Potato and Low reduce visual settings for weaker computers. Higher profiles use more demanding shadows, clouds, reflections, and effects.
