Ascendant: Mastery brings skill-based progression to Minecraft Bedrock. Earn experience, spend skill points, unlock equipment and activities, and develop your character across twelve skills in a custom book interface.

 

This is the core addon in the Ascendant series. Ascendant: Vocation expands its progression with professions, while Ascendant: Sustenance adds an optional nutrition system.

- Twelve skills: Health, Strength, Agility, Defense, Stamina, Luck, Archery, Trade, Smithing, Mining, Farming, and Alchemy.
- Twenty levels per skill with persistent player progression.
- Skill bonuses for combat, movement, health, hunger, farming, mining, trading, smithing, brewing, and more.
- Level requirements for equipment, blocks, entities, mining, brewing, and smithing.
- Under-level players can still break restricted mining blocks, but receive no drops; the matching vanilla break sound still plays.
- Locked brewing ingredients cannot be collected or kept from containers until their Alchemy requirement is met. Blaze Powder unlocks at Alchemy 1 for brewing fuel.
- Restricted non-stackable equipment keeps requirement lore visible as red unmet lines that disappear as each requirement is met.
- Spears require both Agility and Strength; Netherite gear also requires Smithing in addition to its base skill requirement.
- Continuous unlock lists that show when content becomes available.
- A custom Mastery interface opened by the Ascendant book.
- Every player receives the Ascendant book on first join and after every death.
- Craft another Ascendant book from one normal Minecraft book.
- Integrated navigation for Ascendant: Sustenance and the Ascendant: Vocation expansion when installed.
- Existing legacy save data is migrated automatically.

- Use the Ascendant book received when joining or respawning.
- Alternatively, run /asc:mastery.

1. Import the included behavior pack and resource pack.
2. Activate both packs on the same world.
3. Place the behavior pack high enough in the stack to avoid another addon replacing its player definition.
4. Back up an existing world before updating or changing addon stacks.

- Both the Ascendant: Mastery behavior pack and resource pack are required.

Mastery modifies the player entity to provide skill-based health values. Addons that also replace minecraft:player may conflict unless their player definitions are merged. Sustenance is an optional standalone-compatible companion. Vocation is an expansion for Mastery and should be installed alongside it.

Other behavior packs can register custom item, block, entity, mining, brewing, and smithing requirements through the included Script Event API v2. Registered content can appear automatically in Mastery's unlock lists. API v1 remains supported.

- /asc:mastery_add_xp awards progression XP.
- /asc:mastery_diagnostics reports persistence and extension health.

This is a Bedrock rewrite, not a direct Java mod loader conversion. Features use stable Bedrock Script API and JSON UI equivalents, so some mechanics differ internally from Java while preserving the intended progression experience.
