⛏️ Ultra Scarcity

Turn mining into a server-wide resource management system.

Ultra Scarcity transforms ore mining into a shared, finite resource. Every ore mined by any player increases a global Scarcity Pressure meter. As pressure rises, ores become harder to obtain, mining becomes more dangerous, and the entire world begins to react.

There is no individual score. There are no rewards. There is no competition.

The entire server shares the consequences.

Mine too much, and everyone suffers. Stop mining, and the world slowly recovers.

🌍 How It Works

Every ore mined contributes pressure to a global counter.

The more the server mines, the higher the scarcity level becomes.

A BossBar constantly displays the current state of the world, allowing everyone to see how close the server is to collapse.

📊 Scarcity Levels

Level State Drop Chance Effects
🟢 1 Stable Resources 100% Normal gameplay
🟡 2 Mild Scarcity 85% Mining Fatigue I + Hunger
🟠 3 Scarce Resources 65% Mining Fatigue II + Slowness + ~3× Pickaxe Wear
🔴 4 Extreme Scarcity 45% Mining Fatigue III + Slowness + Weakness + ~5× Pickaxe Wear
☠️ 5 Collapse 25% Mining Fatigue III + Slowness II + Weakness + Hunger + Darkness + ~8× Pickaxe Wear

Starting at Level 3, the world itself reacts to the crisis:

The entire server can feel when resources are running out.

💎 Ore Pressure

Different ores contribute different amounts of pressure:

Ore Pressure
Coal / Copper / Nether Gold / Quartz +1
Iron / Redstone / Lapis +2
Gold +3
Diamond +5
Emerald +8

Deepslate variants are also affected.

Silk Touch does not bypass the system. This is intentional to prevent easy exploitation.

📈 Default Thresholds

Natural recovery:

−12 Pressure every 30 seconds

All values can be changed in-game.

🧪 Tested on a Real Server

Ultra Scarcity has been tested on a running Minecraft 1.21.11 server.

With 40 blocks mined at each level:

🔧 Compatibility

⚠️ Compatibility Notes

Ultra Scarcity overrides the loot tables of the 18 ores.

Therefore, it is not compatible with other datapacks that modify the same ore loot tables.

Known Exploit

Ores destroyed by explosions do not receive the player mining context and therefore bypass the drop reduction.

Mass TNT mining is currently the only known loophole.

💡 Why Ultra Scarcity?

Most survival servers treat ores as infinite resources.

Ultra Scarcity changes that.

Every diamond matters. Every mining session has consequences. Every player affects the world.

The question isn't:

"How much can I mine?"

It's:

"How much can our world afford?"

Feedback, bug reports, and balance suggestions are welcome!
