WHICH LEAVES WORK?
Spoiler: ✓ Supported Leaf Types
Biome-tinted leaves
» Oak Leaves
» Jungle Leaves
» Acacia Leaves
» Dark Oak Leaves
» Mangrove Leaves
These leaf types use Minecraft's biome tinting system and can therefore be recoloured by RainbowLeaves.

Spoiler: ✕ Unsupported Leaf Types
Fixed-colour leaves
» Spruce Leaves
» Birch Leaves
» Cherry Leaves
» Azalea Leaves
» Flowering Azalea Leaves
» Pale Oak Leaves
These leaves have their colour fixed directly in their textures.
This is a Minecraft limitation, not a RainbowLeaves limitation.

Spoiler: Why can't they be recoloured?
Minecraft handles some leaf types using biome tinting, while others have a fixed colour baked into their textures.
RainbowLeaves uses Minecraft's biome system to achieve its colour changes.
» A server-side plugin cannot change the fixed texture colour.
» Recolouring those leaves would require a custom resource pack.
» That is a completely different mechanism from RainbowLeaves.
There is no server-side workaround for these leaf types.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
Spoiler: ① Hold the Leaf Dust
Hold your
Colored Leaf Dust in your main hand.
The dust determines which colour will be applied to the tree.
The dust determines which colour will be applied to the tree.
Spoiler: ② Right-click the tree
You don't need to aim directly at the leaves.
» Right-click the tree trunk
» Or right-click another solid block near the canopy
RainbowLeaves searches a small area around the clicked block for the nearest compatible leaves.
Default search radius:

Default search radius:
Code (Text):
search-radius: 5
Spoiler: ③ The whole canopy changes
Once a compatible leaf block is found, RainbowLeaves follows every physically connected leaf block.
» Connected leaves are detected automatically.
» Diagonal connections are supported.
» The actual shape of the tree is preserved.
» It does NOT simply colour a square area.
The configured range acts as a safety-cap radius from the trunk, preventing the spread from accidentally reaching a neighbouring tree.
A second max-tree-blocks safeguard limits the total number of leaf blocks that can be coloured in one click.

Spoiler: ④ Nothing nearby? No problem.
If RainbowLeaves cannot find compatible leaves within the search radius, nothing is changed.
You'll simply receive a message telling you that no suitable leaves were found.
Move closer to the canopy and try again.

Spoiler: ⑤ The item is consumed
Every successful use consumes
1 item.

Spoiler: ⑥ Need a bigger tree?
For very large trees such as Jungle or Dark Oak, administrators can increase the safety-cap radius of the held dust:
This requires the appropriate permission and is
OP-only by default.
Code (Text):
/rainbowleaves setsize
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Spoiler: Rendering Note
Sometimes Minecraft's client-side rendering cache may prevent the new leaf colour from appearing immediately.
If the plugin reports that the operation was successful but the leaves still look unchanged:
» Move away from the tree.
» Move back.
» Or reconnect to the server.
This is a Minecraft rendering behaviour, not a failed operation.

Use this dust to restore coloured leaves to their normal appearance.
Code (Text):

Spoiler: Range Upgrade — Neutralizing Dust
Recipe:
Neutralizing Leaf Dust + Bone Meal → Next Tier
Neutralizing dust uses the same range progression as coloured dust.
Code (Text):
Neutralizing Leaf Dust + Bone Meal → Next Tier
Bone Meal is intentionally used instead of Glowstone Dust to avoid recipe conflicts with RainbowWater.
