UMPR.

Do you like pretty, almost dreamlike terrain? What about getting inspired to build in such landscape? Or maybe you'd like a unique, yet undeniably Minecraft-ish combat. How about some overhauled progression and QOL mechanics that make tackling your goals less tedious without making any easier? Extremely specific tweaks and adjustments that make you feel like the game designer was overthinking a lot?

UMPR is a brand new modpack aiming to create the perfect blend of Beta-like charm and wonder, mashing together intrisic and extrinsic goals into one and the same, as well as QOL features (or as I like to call it, anti-tedium) to make even the laziest player actually unleash their creativity.

As an ever-ongoing hobby project that's spanned weeks and months of my life, on and off, whenever I got that modpack itch, UMPR is a lot, even if a surface look might make you think otherwise. Entire parts of the game were thrown out, overhauled, or created from the ground up to change the way players approach the game. Quite a lot of custom scripts, recipes and items, too.

Features:

• Unique, inspiring worldgen: using the mod Cascades to bring back that feeling of falling in love with a nice hill and deciding to build a house there. Furthermore...
• No End dimension, naturally spawning villages or most surface structures: the world is here for you to shape to your own desire. I wouldn't let a janky village get in the way now, would I? Shulker boxes and elytra have been replaced with things fitting a similar niche. Oh, and you can still get your own villagers, if you want. Building a bunch of houses, keeping it pretty. No need to rush it just to get a librarian, though, because...
• No enchantments: enchanting, or experience in general, has been removed due to how grindy and annoying they could be to get. The most useful ones are either tied to toolsets or have a new way to get a similar effect. Lack of Efficiency and Unbreaking have been accounted for, too.
• Overhauled progression: the road to diamond, and maybe netherite, is now a little longer while taking care not to just make the player worse. For example, iron has been promoted to mid-late-game tier, and buffed accordingly. Ore placement has been touched upon as well.
• No hunger: food now heals you a specified amount of HP, though it's not instant or spammable.
• Fresh, yet familiar combat system: a mix of modern and beta-era combat, with some additional tweaks. Critical hits were removed, spam-clicking is back in a not-broken form, and the combat is more positioning focused, in a way. There is no longer just a single type of shield that can defend you from anything, at any time.
• Fast, but skillful block placing: with Placement+ the better your aim is, the faster you can build. House building speedruns, anyone?
• Buffed mounts and vehicles: minecarts, horses (and others) are buffed to incentivize using them. Special item lets you carry mounts around and minecarts have their own curio slot.
• Convenient item replacements for the more cheaty part of the game: coordinates, time, and optifine-style zoom have been replaced by equippable items. Additionally, lodestones are cheaper and can be named, eliminating the need for an OP minimap with checkpoints. Don't worry, the terrain is very memorable, you'll quickly find your way around the Overworld.
• QOL and convenience tweaks: the modpack has its own takes on upgradeable backpacks, hammers and others. A basic storage system, too. When you die, all your items are safe in a Death Marker, which you can find using a death compass (easier to get than in vanilla)
• Tips and item tooltip:s still a work in progress, but some things are explained through in-game tips or when you hover over an item.
• The Aether: yeah, why not.

  Good question! Does it need to stand for anything? Maybe it does, maybe it doesn't.

Some final thoughts
