Andy's Soulbound Inventory

Keep your gear, protect your hotbar, or let every player choose. Andy's Soulbound Inventory brings per-player and selective Keep Inventory to Minecraft Bedrock with independent XP choices and world-owner controls.

Vanilla-friendly by design

Use normal items and two renamed sticks. There are no graves, recovery teleports, currencies, inventory sorting or restoration menus. Equipped gear and retained items keep their original data. Vanilla item textures, including plain wooden shields, are unchanged. Promotional artwork is an illustration, not an in-game screenshot.

Requirements

Minecraft Bedrock 26.30 or newer, both included packs, Standard graphics or Vibrant Visuals. No Beta APIs, experiments, cheats or other add-ons are required. The packs include addon declarations for achievement compatibility. The owner confirmed Achievement Friendly behavior and Vibrant Visuals compatibility.

Installation

Windows, Android and iOS

Open the mcaddon with Minecraft, activate Andy's Soulbound Inventory [BP] in the target world, and confirm its linked Resource Pack. Keep cheats and experiments off.

Consoles through a Realm

Import and prepare the world on Windows or mobile, upload it to a Realm, and join from the console.

Realms and dedicated servers

Realms use the packs activated on the uploaded world. On BDS, extract the two included mcpack archives into the server's behavior/resource pack folders and activate their manifest UUIDs in the world's pack lists. Native console commands configure every setting without opening a form.

Updating and removal

Import the newer archive and activate the matching versions of both packs; saved choices remain associated with the same pack. Before removing the packs, turn the add-on off using AdminInvControl or asi:soulbound_set enabled off, then save. That restores the previous world Keep Inventory value.

Quick start

  1. Rename a normal stick exactly PlayerInvControl at an anvil.
  2. Use it on a block, or sneak while holding it for one second, to open your settings.
  3. Choose a death mode and XP preference. The initial default is Keep Equipment with Vanilla XP.
  4. World owners and operators use a stick named AdminInvControl for world defaults, available modes and player locks.

Player Control Stick

Rename a normal stick PlayerInvControl to access personal settings.

Player Control Menu

See the effective death mode, XP behavior, defaults, and choice availability in one place.

Four death modes

Mode What stays with you
Vanilla No additional inventory protection.
Keep Equipment Worn armor, offhand and the currently selected hotbar item.
Keep Gear + Hotbar Worn armor, offhand and all nine hotbar slots.
Keep Everything All inventory, hotbar, worn armor and offhand.

Death Modes

Choose one of four retention modes or follow the world default.

Spare tools and armor in your main inventory are ordinary inventory. Equipment mode keeps the held stack even when it is a resource. Native keep-on-death items stay protected. Excluded Curse of Vanishing items vanish; retained ones follow Keep Inventory behavior. Unretained items can burn, despawn, be collected, or be lost to the void normally.

Experience is a separate choice

Keep XP preserves levels and progress. Vanilla XP clears the player's experience and releases seven points per previous level, up to 100. You can protect equipment while keeping normal XP consequences, or use another combination permitted by the world owner.

XP loss is applied just after respawn. Recoverable orbs are released once at the original death location only after the loss is verified. If that chunk is unloaded, the reward waits for it for up to five minutes from death; the XP loss still applies. Keep XP creates no extra orbs. Settings selected at death apply to that death.

Player XP Options

Choose XP behavior independently from the inventory mode.

Persistent player choices

Each player has their own saved settings. Personal choices survive death, logout, world reload, dimension travel and server restart. Players without a personal override follow the world default. Groups with different preferences can share a world without sharing one death rule.

World settings and dedicated-server console

Admins control the add-on, availability of each retention mode, Keep XP, default mode/XP, global player selection and individual player locks. Global restrictions override personal choices; a disabled mode falls back to Vanilla. Disabling player selection preserves assigned choices. Mode switches control availability of the named modes, not separate armor or hotbar filters.

Admin Stick

Operators rename a normal stick AdminInvControl to access world settings.

Admin Menu 1

Enable the add-on, allow self-selection, and control Keep Equipment worldwide.

Admin Menu 2

Control the remaining retention modes, Keep XP availability, and the XP default.

Admin Menu 3

Set the default mode and open online-player management.

Select Online Player Menu

Select an online player for mode, XP, or personal-lock assignment.

BDS console examples, entered without a leading slash:

asi:soulbound_help
asi:soulbound_status
asi:soulbound_set defaultMode equipment
asi:soulbound_set allowEverything off
asi:soulbound_set allowKeepXp on
asi:soulbound_set defaultKeepXp off
asi:soulbound_set allowPlayerChoice off
asi:soulbound_player "Player Name" mode hotbar
asi:soulbound_player "Player Name" keepXp on
asi:soulbound_player "Player Name" locked on

Other world keys are enabled, allowEquipment, allowHotbar. Valid modes are vanilla, equipment, hotbar, everything. Use on/off for booleans; player mode/XP accepts default to return to world defaults. Player selectors are supported and assignment targets online players. Operators can use the same commands in game with /. Native commands do not require cheats. Ordinary members, command blocks and NPC dialogue cannot change admin settings.

Compatibility

Targets single-player Survival, multiplayer, Realms, BDS, and all three dimensions. The system manages Keep Inventory internally and processes each death individually. Use one death-inventory/XP manager per world. Andy's Soulbound Graves depends on vanilla player death drops, while Soulbound Inventory manages those drops itself, so their Behavior Packs must not be active together. Creative and Spectator players are exempt from scripted loss.

If a drop fails to spawn, its original inventory slot is restored and an error is logged. Engine failures can therefore preserve more than the chosen policy. The current feature set and corrected XP behavior passed the owner smoke test. Multiplayer and BDS remain unverified because the owner cannot test them locally; other compatibility checks remain open.

Troubleshooting

The stick does nothing: use the exact case-sensitive name, close other forms/chat, and try using it on a block or holding sneak for one second.

Admin access is denied: the account must have Operator permission. Renaming a stick does not grant permission.

A player gets Vanilla instead of their mode: check world availability switches and personal locks. World restrictions win over stored assignments.

Too much inventory stays after death: check mode, enabled state, other death packs, loaded version and the Content Log for a failed transfer.

Reporting problems

Include Bedrock version/platform, add-on version, world/server type, death cause, mode/XP settings, other packs and relevant Content Log lines. Use the official project page once released or AndyTheMakerMC.xyz.

Keep Exploring with Andy

Prefer the journey back to recover your gear? Andy's Soulbound Graves serves that return-and-recover style. Soulbound Inventory provides retention choices. Choose one death system per world; do not activate both Behavior Packs together. Explore Andy's add-ons and Minecraft content at AndyTheMakerMC.xyz.
