Inkboil
Cartoon shaders that animate on twos — the render stays fluid while the drawing is redrawn twelve times a second.

Most toon shaders do the same two things: posterise the light, add a black outline. That gives you a 3D game wearing a filter. Inkboil starts from how animation actually works — traditional animation runs at twelve frames a second, and that stepped cadence is most of what your eye reads as "hand-drawn". So the render stays perfectly fluid, and only the drawing steps: the tremble of the ink line, the phase of the hatching, the paper grain, the strokes running across the water. The part that makes it work is that it is never the position of the line that is cadenced, only the randomness of the gesture — so the line stays welded to the silhouette instead of lagging behind it. The sun is a drawn disc with an inked rim, the clouds are solid shapes with an outline, the water is flat with foam drawn as lines, and the Nether is lit from below like a reflection off the lava. The whole post-processing chain costs about thirty texture fetches per pixel — no volumetrics, no bloom, no temporal accumulation — and every effect is adjustable, down to a light toon mode for people who find it too assertive.
