⬇ Download on CurseForgeAuto Night Vision automatically applies Night Vision when you're in a dark area, and removes it automatically once you're back in the light — no potions, no held items, no commands required.
How it works: The addon checks the light level at your position every 0.5 seconds. Once the light level drops to 7 or below — the same threshold vanilla Minecraft uses to determine whether mobs can spawn on solid blocks — Night Vision turns on automatically and stays active as long as you remain in the dark. When you step back into a lit area (near a torch, out in daylight, etc.), the effect is removed automatically.
Key features:
- Real-time light detection — based on the actual light level of the block you're standing on, not just day/night. Works in caves, mineshafts, dense forests, or unlit houses even during daytime.
- No particle spam (showParticles: false) — the effect applies without the swirling effect icon cluttering your screen.
- Achievement-friendly — built entirely with the Script API (
@minecraft/server) rather than/effectcommands, so achievements stay enabled in your Survival world. - Doesn't override other effects — the addon tracks which Night Vision instances it applied itself, so it won't strip away Night Vision you got from a potion before that effect runs out.
- Zero setup — just enable the addon; no crafting, brewing, or commands needed.
Why it's useful: In vanilla Minecraft, visibility in dark areas is limited — you're stuck carrying torches everywhere or chugging Night Vision potions. With this addon, night mining, cave exploring, mineshafts, strongholds, and dungeons become much smoother since your vision adjusts automatically to the surrounding light in real time. Great for Survival players who want to keep their achievements intact, or content creators who need clearly visible gameplay footage even in dark environments.
