Bible Verse — Paper Server Plugin

Bring encouraging Scripture to everyone on your Minecraft server.

Bible Verse is a Paper server plugin that delivers a Bible verse after players join. Each player can choose how often verses appear, disable them completely, or manage everything through an in-game settings GUI.

Install the plugin once on the Paper server. Regular players do not need to install anything.

What Players Can Expect

When a player's cooldown is ready, the plugin waits five seconds by default and displays:

• The Scripture reference as the large title
• A shortened portion of the verse as the subtitle
• The complete verse and translation label in chat

The default frequency is every 12 hours, but every player can choose their own schedule.

If someone disconnects or disables verses during the login delay, the pending verse is cancelled.

Player Settings GUI

Players can open the settings menu with /bibleverse gui.

The GUI includes:

• Every Login
• Every 6 Hours
• Every 12 Hours
• Once a Day

• Bible Verses ON/OFF
• Close

The player's currently selected frequency is highlighted.

/bibleverse frequency 6h	Sets a six-hour cooldown.
/bibleverse frequency 12h	Sets a twelve-hour cooldown.
/bibleverse frequency 24h	Sets a daily cooldown.
/bibleverse frequency weekly	Sets a weekly cooldown.

Administrator and Console Commands

/bibleverse reload	Reloads the configuration and local verses.
/bibleverse gui <player>	Opens the GUI for an online player when run from console.

Permissions

Installation

1. Stop your Paper server.
2. Place the Bible Verse JAR in the server's plugins folder.
3. Start the server.
4. Edit config.yml or verses.yml if desired.
5. Run /bibleverse reload or restart after making changes.

Do not place the Paper plugin in a Fabric client's mods folder. The Fabric edition is a separate download.

Configuration

Server owners can configure:

• Login delay
• Default player frequency
• Frequency cooldown lengths
• Online verse sources
• API timeouts
• Offline fallback verses
• Title and subtitle colors
• Title fade and display timing
• Maximum subtitle length
• Player-facing messages
• Player-data filename

Player preferences are stored by UUID in plugins/BibleVersePlugin/playerdata.yml.

Editable offline verses are stored in plugins/BibleVersePlugin/verses.yml.

Verse Sources

The plugin tries verse sources in this order:

1. Primary: World English Bible verses from bible-api.com
2. Secondary: NET Bible verses from labs.bible.org
3. Offline fallback: Local verses from verses.yml

If an online source fails, times out, or returns an invalid response, the plugin automatically tries the next source.

Online requests run asynchronously so verse retrieval does not block the main server thread.

Companion Fabric Mod

The optional Bible Verse Local Fabric mod provides local verses in singleplayer and on servers without this plugin:

Replace PASTE_FABRIC_CURSEFORGE_PROJECT_URL_HERE with the actual CurseForge URL for your Fabric mod.

When a player with the compatible Fabric mod joins this Paper server:

1. The Paper plugin sends a one-way presence signal.
2. The Fabric mod pauses its local delivery.
3. Paper controls the player's verse schedule.
4. The player receives one verse instead of duplicate messages.

The Fabric mod is optional. Players using an ordinary Minecraft client still receive Paper-delivered verses normally.

Privacy

• Player settings remain inside the server's plugin folder.
• Online verse requests do not include player names, UUIDs, chat, coordinates, or world data.
• No analytics or telemetry service is included.

Translations

Primary and offline verses use the public-domain World English Bible (WEB).

The secondary source uses the NET Bible and displays NET beside the verse. NET Bible copyright and permissions information is available at netbible.com/copyright.
