Minecraft's Progression and Adventure Reimagined by a Moose!
This datapack completely overhauls Minecraft's overworld with the same hand-crafted biomes of its sister pack MooseGen, but takes the overhauls a step further by changing many of the elements of progression in Minecraft! Many of these changes and tweaks are adapted from Klei Wright's Matcha Flavored datapack, so thanks to him for not only making a great pack, but making it open source so others can offer their own takes on it! Note: this pack requires either the companion resource pack, or the latest version of my MooseCraft or MooseItems resource packs
So what is changed?
My goal with this pack is to take some of the meaningful rewards and incentives presented by Matcha and adapt them in a somewhat more Vanilla-oriented way. With this in mind I've made the following changes:
- All overworld biomes: for more information check out the gallery, or for an explainer check out my MooseGen datapack. If you want this pack's world gen with none of the other features, that pack is what you'll want.
- No Enderman Griefing: endermen can no longer pick up or place blocks.
- The Starter Camp: instead of a boring bonus chest, you now spawn at a small campsite (inspired by the abandoned camps) with some starter stone tools, hay beds, a saddle, a horse, and a bonus chest. The perfect quick start for your brand new Minecraft Adventure!
- Shulker Boxes can now be crafted with string, leather, and either a chest or a barrel (recipe should appear in book, but if not there is a screenshot in the gallery)
- Fishing Bobbers: I've added 2 new items in the form of the Lucky Bobber, and the Lure Bobber. These fishing bobbers can be held in your off-hand to increase your fishing luck and speed respectively (in the same way that luck of the sea and lure enchantments on fishing rods work). These items are loot-exclusive and are found in shipwreck treasure chests, and buried treasure.
- Eyes of Ender are crafted entirely differently now, with the following items combining in a crafting table to produce 16 eyes of ender. (screenshot of recipe in gallery)
- 4 Ender Pearls
- 1 Blaze Rod
- 1 Breeze Rod
- 1 Prismarine Shard
- 1 Echo Shard
- 1 Totem of Undying This recipe is designed to require players to engage with more of the world before taking on the End; needing to visit a Fortress, a Trial Chamber, an Ocean Monument, an Ancient City, and either visit a Mansion or defeat a Pillager Raid.
- Free the Overworld: because getting to the End requires so much more work, you should get an equally worth-while reward for defeating the Dragon! Defeating the dragon now makes it so that Hostile Mobs no longer spawn under the open sky of the Overworld! This means the overworld becomes significantly safer while keeping the need to light up your base and take care traveling through forests.
- Netherite Instamining: Netherite tools with Efficiency 5 now instamine blocks like Deepslate and Endstone(pickaxe) and Logs(axe) while you have the Haste 2 effect.
- Note: With the changes to trees in this pack, most tree farms will be broken, so don't plan on building a tree farm without heavy modification.
My hope is that these changes collectively provide some incentives and quality of life features that encourage taking your time and engaging with the world outside of just your base.
Recommended Mods to pair with this pack:
- MooseCraft: My resource pack includes built in support for custom items added by Adventure Reimagined, and is the way that I personally play this pack!
- Dungeons and Taverns (and addons): Nova (DNT's creator) does an incredible job with their structures and they align extremely well with my game design ethos.
- Falling Tree (or other tree chopping mods): Trees in this pack are significantly taller than their vanilla counterparts, so a tree chopper can save a lot of headaches.
- Villages Revamped: This mod/data pack overhauls all variants of vanilla villages with more modern building techniques and does a great job making villages less of an eyesore.
Again, huge thanks to Klei Wright for Matcha flavored and the inspiration to take my worldgen pack further!
