Blaze Rods Smelt Items at 2x Speed
Blaze Rods smelt/cook all items at double the speed of other fuel types
- This effect stacks with the 2x speed increase of the smoker / blast furnace
so 2x speed in furnace - 4x speed in smoker and blast furnace - Blaze Rods smelt/cook 8 items instead of 12
partially to balance for the speed increase, but moreso just for simpler math and making it a more 'direct' upgrade of coal/charcoal
often see a whole lot of blaze rods being left pretty much unused from blaze xp farms and whatnot.
adding a more appealing functionality to them makes blaze rods feel less like junk and turns them into a very desirable fuel source for future farms, large smelters, and/or just general use.
(especially among more 'technical' players)
the issue isn't only at the scale of farms/grinders - even in smaller quantities, after making a brewing stand and a bit of powder, blaze rods tend to just sit in chests. I hardly ever see them being used as fuel in vanilla.
just seems like a good mid-game progression step that adds another longer-term desirable material to the nether dimension, which I think is cool and neat and cool gameplay wise.
Technical Notes- modifies data/minecraft/context_float_provider/cooking/speed_default.json to add check for blaze rods and adjust the modifier accordingly
- modifies data/minecraft/context_int_provider/cooking/time_blaze_rod.json to set dividend to 800 ticks (vanilla 1200 ticks)
this methodology effectively changes the default cooking data component of the blaze rod by way of altering the number providers it relies on; avoiding the need to modify the blaze loot table and/or account for previously existing unmodified blaze rods.
this pack runs no function logic, so TPS impact should be negligible
