Echoes Beneath

The lens remembers shape and sound, but not light.

Record a place with an Echo Lens and come back later to stand inside that recording.

The lens saves up to two minutes: the blocks around it, the mobs and players that walked through, and the sounds that actually played there. Use the lens again on the same spot and the recording plays back around you.

What playback looks like

The world goes almost completely black. The lens saved no light, so nothing is lit.

Instead you see the place through sound. Every sound that was recorded plays again at the same moment and from the same spot, and sends a ring outward. Where that ring hits a wall or a floor, it lights that surface for a second and fades out.

Mobs and players stay black, and the light goes around them, so you see them as dark shapes against the lit wall behind. Blocks that were there during the recording and have been broken since come back as dark shapes too.

The Resonance Table

You can find one in the mod's structures or craft it. Put a lens on it and buy upgrades on four tracks:

Track What it does
Memory how many recordings the lens holds
Radius how large an area it records
Hearing how quiet a sound it still picks up
Vision how much of the recording you can see

You don't pay anything until you take the lens back off the table, so you can try different settings first. The lens also remembers the highest level it ever had: lowering a track is free, and raising it back to a level you already paid for is free too.

Vision is saved into the recording when you make it, so buy it before you record, not after.

The Sounding Table

Put a lens on it and pick a recording. The screen shows a 3D model of the place, built only from the parts the recording actually heard. Sound spreads along the ground, and every spot it reached is shown from top to bottom. A quiet corner shows almost nothing, a fight shows a whole cave.

Two sliders set the height range. Drag on the model to turn it.

Taking a recording out gives you an Echo Chart and frees the slot it used, which is the only way to free a slot. Place the chart anywhere and the model hangs above it, turning slowly and giving off a little light. Sneak and right-click it to change the size, rotation and effects. Put the chart back into the table to move the recording back into a lens.
