Prevail
A mod that reworks the vanilla survival experience with minimal changes. All server-side.
This project was created as a beginner's project to learn Minecraft modding and has been dropped and revisited countless times. I cannot retract the past, only make a better future.
This is a rework of Coalesce.
Features
Prevail contains a number of features that overhaul combat.
Saturation Nerf
Eating to full saturation will no longer heal you an insane amount all at once. Instead, the healing is spread out evenly as it should be. Eating food is no longer an instant save, but rather a calculated risk you need to account for at all times.
Max Heal
A new mechanic not too dissimilar from Dragon Dogma's health system in which taking damage has a more permanent effect on your health as well. Taking enough damage will start to chip away at your maximum HP, preventing you from naturally healing beyond a certain point. There are two ways to restore Max Heal: Sleeping (restores up to 80%) and potions (instant health/regeneration). Speaking of sleeping...
Daytime Napping
You may now sleep whenever you want - morning, afternoon, evening and night. No matter when you sleep, you'll be woken up 13 in-game hours later! This means you can sleep to restore your Max Heal no matter when, as long as you have a bed!
Distance-based Damage
You can no longer stand a distance away and hit enemies for a full swing's worth of power. This mechanic decreases your damage the farther you are, but the opposite is true as well - getting real close and personal can multiply it instead! So time your attack right and be careful, because PvP will never feel the same.
I-Frame Removal
All i-frames granted from melee attacks and projectiles have been completely removed. Now you can throw as many players as you want at the same mob and deal maximum damage! But be careful, because this change applies to you as well.
Despair
With no i-frames to save your opponents, spamming attacks feels like them most logical choice. This mechanic turns an exploit into a trap. Spamming too many attacks in a row without triggering a weapon sweep will result in Despair - a state in which you cannot deal damage at all! You must wait out the time or balance your attacks with cautious sweeps and well-timed blows. Spamming is a last resort.
Chomping
On death's door and you don't have time to eat that golden apple? Perhaps you need to stuff a cooked porkchop down the hatch as you fend off enemies? Chomping is for you. By sneaking before eating, you can consume a food four times faster than normal! This action is not without consequence however, as you will be unable to eat anything for a good while.
Shield Cooldown
Tired of the enemy always hiding behind their study iron bulwark? No more. Shields will now go on cooldown on hit, no matter what hit them - a fist, a sword, an axe - anything that deals damage will force the enemy to lower their shield, even for a moment, and face your wrath head-on.
Shield Rush
But shields aren't just for cowards - they are a mark of courage and relentless endurance. Now, you can shove that determination right into the faces of others with a furious charge! By right-clicking a shield while sprinting, you can rush forward - dealing damage and knocking enemies away.
Mob Stun
You can now stun mobs after dealing enough damage! Stunned mobs cannot attack or move and are open to reckless combos.
