Classic Villages – Old Villagers & Old Villages
Do you miss the old Minecraft villagers and the villages they lived in before the Village & Pillage update?
Classic Villages is an add-on created to bring the classic pre-1.14 village experience back into modern Minecraft Bedrock Edition.
This add-on restores the old-style villagers, their classic appearance and trading system, and most importantly, brings back the old village generation that existed before villages were completely redesigned.
The goal of the project is not to replace modern Minecraft, but to allow classic villages and villagers to exist naturally in the modern game again.
Old Villagers Are Back
The add-on brings back the classic villagers from older versions of Minecraft.
They use their old appearance and old-style professions, can trade with the player, live inside villages, wander around, interact with their surroundings and behave like villagers from the pre-1.14 era as closely as modern Bedrock Edition allows.
Old villagers can naturally appear together with classic villages, meaning they are not simply decorative mobs placed into the world — they are part of a complete village system.
Classic zombie villagers are also included as part of the old villager system.
A Note About Villager Behavior
Over the years, parts of the original old villager behavior in Minecraft Bedrock Edition have stopped working correctly or are no longer fully supported by the modern game engine.
Because of this, some systems had to be recreated from scratch using custom scripts.
For example, systems such as villagers recognizing houses, returning indoors at night, seeking shelter during dangerous weather, reacting to nearby enemies and remaining inside shelters could not simply rely on the original old Minecraft behavior anymore.
These mechanics were therefore rebuilt specifically for this add-on.
Because of that, the behavior of the restored villagers may not always be 100% identical, tick-for-tick, to an old version of Minecraft.
The goal is to recreate the original experience as faithfully as possible while still making the villagers function reliably in current versions of Minecraft Bedrock Edition.
So if you notice a small behavioral difference compared to a very old version of the game, it does not necessarily mean something is broken.
Classic Villages Return to World Generation
Old villagers would not feel complete without their original villages.
Classic Villages restores the old village style with its recognizable buildings, gravel roads, farms, wells, lamp posts and other structures inspired by villages from the pre-1.14 era.
Villages generate naturally while exploring the world.
There are four different biome-based classic village variants, so the materials and appearance of a village can change depending on the biome in which it generates.
The generation system also includes different building combinations and village sizes, meaning villages are not intended to be identical every time.
Modern villages are not removed by the add-on. Classic villages exist alongside them, while the generator includes protection intended to prevent old villages from generating directly through modern ones.
Classic Villages in Flat Worlds
One of the biggest features of this add-on is support for flat worlds.
Classic villages can naturally generate in flat worlds as well.
This means flat-world players are no longer limited to an empty landscape when using this add-on. You can explore a flat world and encounter fully generated classic villages populated by old villagers.
For players who remember old Superflat survival worlds or simply enjoy experimenting with flat-world presets, this is one of the main features of the project.
Raids Work With Classic Villages
Classic villages are also integrated with modern raid gameplay.
If the player enters a classic village while carrying the required raid-triggering effect, the village can become involved in a raid.
The add-on includes its own systems for allowing old villages to behave as real settlements during this process.
Villagers can panic when a raid begins and seek shelter when hostile raiders are actually nearby, while the rest of the raid continues to use Minecraft's modern raid mechanics.
This allows classic villages to exist naturally in the modern game without completely isolating them from newer gameplay systems.

Why This Add-on Exists
Minecraft villages changed dramatically with the Village & Pillage update.
The newer system introduced many improvements, but at the same time the original villages, old villagers and their very distinctive atmosphere disappeared from normal world generation.
For players who grew up with older versions of Minecraft, the old villages had a very different feeling.
Simple gravel roads, the old stone well in the center, strange village layouts, classic houses, farms and the original villagers created an atmosphere that modern villages do not really reproduce.
Classic Villages is an attempt to bring that part of Minecraft history back.
Not as a texture pack.
Not as a manually placed structure.
But as a functioning part of normal gameplay again.
Explore the world, find an old village, trade with its villagers, survive the night, defend it from a raid — or create a flat world and watch classic villages return to the landscape.
Welcome back to the old village.
