Survival item upgrades with a horizontal case-opening reel
Spigot + Paper - No resource pack - No client mod - No economy dependency
Turn spare items into a chance at your next upgrade.
Craft an Upgrader, deposit a stack, choose a vanilla target and its quantity, then spin. The menu shows your chance before you commit. A nine-slot horizontal reel slows to a stop beneath a fixed pointer, surrounded by black glass panes.
For players
Craft an Upgrader, search for a target, and check the odds before spinning. Losses consume the deposited stack.

Made for Survival
- Craftable Upgrader with normal Survival ingredients.
- Searchable, sortable target catalogue and quantity controls.
- Item values based on material prices, recipes and remaining durability.
- Visible odds: wins award the selected item; losses consume the entire deposited stack.
- No keys, paid currency, Vault or resource pack required.
- Persistent pending items, reconnect recovery and /upgrader claim for unclaimed items.
- Configurable values, blacklist, odds, animation duration and attempt limits (default: 10 rolls per 60 seconds).
- English by default, with Vietnamese translation included. The English runtime path was tested; the Vietnamese path is not separately runtime-certified. Set language: en or language: vi in plugins/UpgraderItems/config.yml.
- Includes anonymous bStats server statistics (service ID 34046); opt out with enabled: false in plugins/bStats/config.yml and restart.
Owner captures from the template workflow; these illustrate the interface, not final-build certification.
The template manager: named entries with their value, category and enabled state.
A custom template in the upgrade catalogue, with its own value and attributes.
Name search in the catalogue; right-click clears the filter.
Installation
Stop the server, back up your data, and place the downloaded JAR in plugins/. Keep only one UpgraderItems JAR, then restart. Requires Java 21. Folia is unsupported.

Support and feedback
Getting started
Stop your server, back up plugin data and playerdata together, then install the downloaded UpgraderItems JAR in your Spigot or Paper server's plugins/ folder and restart. Set language: en or language: vi in plugins/UpgraderItems/config.yml; no separate language JAR or additional plugin is required.
Craft an Upgrader using this recipe:
G = gold ingot, D = diamond, A = intact anvil.
Carry the crafted Upgrader and run /upgrader. Deposit your wager, select a target, check the chance and click Spin. Ordinary players can use it without operator permissions.
How chances work
With the default settings, normal rolls are capped at 90%; there is no positive minimum chance floor. The insurance feature can guarantee a qualifying roll, which is shown before you commit. For example, one iron ingot valued at 40 targeting one diamond valued at 400 has a 9% chance. The displayed calculation includes the selected quantities. Durability reduces the item valuation, with a minimum durability multiplier of 0.05.
Vanilla targets award fresh vanilla items: names, enchantments and other custom item data are not transferred. Custom template targets award an exact clone of the stored template item, with only the amount changed. The reel presents a server-decided result; closing the menu does not cancel an already committed spin. Item values are gameplay values, not currency or a promise of equal exchange.
Commands and permissions
Aliases: /ui and /upgradeitems.
Free edition 1.10.1 - Spigot + Paper
One universal JAR targets Spigot and Paper from API version 1.21.4. The native Paper dialog path was runtime-tested on Paper 1.21.11; Spigot 1.21.4 was runtime-tested with the LegacyPlatform fallback. The Spigot native-dialog adapter is included but not separately certified in this beta. Older servers keep the main GUI and use chat help, /upgrader search <name>, or the shipped templates.yml starter file plus /upgrader treload. No bridge plugin or resource pack is needed.
Inventory transfers use versioned Bukkit snapshots with item round-trip checks and confirmed playerdata saves. Failed verification retains recovery state and disconnects the affected player. Filled shulker boxes and bundles must be emptied before wagering; administration/test blocks are excluded.
Compatibility
Historical 1.5.0 evidence (not certification of the current download): that candidate passed 23/23 core integration checks on Paper 1.21.4, Spigot 1.21.4 and Paper 1.21.11. The 1.21.4 LegacyPlatform fallback passed 8/8 checks on both Paper and Spigot. These automated checks cover the core upgrade/recovery journey; the 1.21.4 fallback also covers template capture/save/reload, while category and clone rules are covered by unit tests. The historical checks above do not establish current-download client acceptance. Requires Java 21 for 1.21.x. Folia is unsupported. Future versions require separate compatibility testing.
What's new in 1.5.0
Capture a defensive copy of the held item into a template draft, assign template categories and filter categories in the player catalogue, or clone an existing template into a new draft without mutating the source. On servers with a native dialog API, id/category/display-name/points editing is available in the GUI; on the 1.21.4 fallback, create or edit those fields in the shipped templates.yml and run /upgrader treload. Existing template permissions and save validation remain in force.
Historical 1.5.0 client evidence
The full real-client template flow was owner-tested on an isolated Paper 1.21.11 server using predecessor candidate b772f3...; no screenshots are included. The 1.5.0 record marked revalidation for ce50f6... as pending. Do not treat this as current-candidate owner sign-off or independent visual certification.
Updating
Install only one plugin JAR. Existing configs are preserved. To adopt the Survival preset, set minChance: 0.0, attemptLimit: 10 and attemptWindowSeconds: 60. Before migrating Paper to Spigot, update on Paper and recover old pending transfers; unresolved legacy Paper snapshots require Paper recovery. Back up playerdata and plugin data together. After a datapack reload on Spigot, run /upgrader reload when it completes.
Historical 1.5.0 scope: Paper/Spigot 1.21.4 core and fallback journeys plus Paper 1.21.11 native-dialog journey were runtime-tested; Spigot native dialogs, Folia, sustained production capacity and every third-party inventory/economy plugin are not certified. Empty escrow recovery is covered, but this is not an absolute dupe-immunity claim. Promotional artwork is an illustration. Not an official Minecraft product; not approved by Mojang or Microsoft.
