# RespawnCare
**RespawnCare** adds an economy-based death protection system to your Minecraft server.
Instead of simply losing or keeping your inventory after death, RespawnCare calculates the value of everything the player is carrying and creates a configurable **hospital bill**.
If the player can afford the bill, the money is withdrawn through Vault and the inventory is saved.
If the player cannot afford the bill, the entire death inventory is lost.
---
## Features
- Inventory-based death costs
- Vault economy integration
- Configurable percentage of the inventory value
- Configurable minimum and maximum death cost
- Players keep their inventory when they can afford the bill
- Inventory is completely lost when the bill cannot be paid

- Item durability can affect the calculated value
- Shulker Box contents are included
- Bundle contents are included
- Building blocks and common materials have configurable values
- Configurable item and enchantment prices

---
## How does it work?
When a player dies, RespawnCare calculates the total value of the player's inventory.
For example:
```text
Inventory value: $24,850.00
Hospital bill: $2,485.00
Balance: $7,420.00
```
If the hospital bill is configured to `10%`, the player has to pay `$2,485.00`.
### The player can afford the bill
The hospital bill is withdrawn from the player's economy account through Vault.
The complete inventory is preserved.
### The player cannot afford the bill
The complete death inventory is lost.
There is no partial payment and no partial inventory recovery.
---
## Inventory Value
RespawnCare calculates much more than just diamonds or Netherite.
The valuation system can include:
- Weapons
- Tools
- Armor
- Building blocks
- Resources
- Food
- Rare items
- Enchantments
- Offhand items
- Shulker Boxes
- Shulker Box contents
- Bundles
- Bundle contents
Stack sizes are automatically taken into account.
Example:
```text
1 Diamond = $100
32 Diamonds = $3,200
```
Normal building blocks can also have values.
This means that a player carrying large amounts of building materials still has an inventory value without ordinary blocks becoming excessively expensive.
---
## Enchantments
Enchantments can increase the value of an item.
Example:
```text
Netherite Pickaxe $1,500
Efficiency V +$1,000
Unbreaking III +$450
Fortune III +$1,200
Mending +$750
------------------------------
Total $4,900
```
Enchantment values can be adjusted by the server administrator.
---
## Shulker Boxes and Bundles
RespawnCare also calculates the contents of supported containers.
For example, placing expensive items inside a Shulker Box does not hide their value from RespawnCare.
Example:
```text
Shulker Box $200
64 Diamonds $6,400
32 Netherite Ingots $16,000
Elytra $5,000
------------------------------
Total $27,600
```
This prevents players from avoiding higher hospital bills by storing valuable items inside containers.
---
## Commands
### `/respawncare value`
Shows the current value of your inventory, the estimated hospital bill and whether you could currently afford it.
Alias:
```text
/rc value
```
---
### `/respawncare value details`
Shows additional information about the current inventory value.
The command only displays the most valuable items instead of printing the complete inventory, keeping the chat clean and readable.
Alias:
```text
/rc value details
```
---
### `/respawncare reload`
Reloads the configuration, item values, enchantment values and language files.
Alias:
```text
/rc reload
```
---
## Permissions
```text
respawncare.value
respawncare.reload
```
`respawncare.value` is available to players by default.
`respawncare.reload` is intended for server administrators.
---
## Languages
RespawnCare currently includes:
- English
- German
English is the default language.
The language can be changed inside `config.yml`.
English:
```yaml
language: en
```
German:
```yaml
language: de
```
Custom language files can also be added inside the RespawnCare `lang` directory.
If a translation is missing, RespawnCare automatically falls back to the English message.
---
## Requirements
RespawnCare requires:
- Paper
- Vault
- A Vault-compatible economy plugin
A common setup is:
```text
Paper
Vault
EssentialsX Economy
RespawnCare
```
Other Vault-compatible economy providers can also be used.
---
## Configuration
RespawnCare is designed to be highly configurable.
Server administrators can configure things such as:
- Hospital bill percentage
- Minimum hospital bill
- Maximum hospital bill
- Item values
- Enchantment values
- Building block values
- Armor calculation
- Offhand calculation
- Container contents
- Item durability calculation
- Number of items shown by the details command
- Language
- Messages
This allows RespawnCare to be adjusted to different server economies.
---
## Example
A player is carrying equipment and resources worth:
```text
Inventory value: $18,750.00
```
The server has configured:
```text
Hospital bill: 10%
Minimum bill: $500
```
The resulting hospital bill is:
```text
$18,750 × 10% = $1,875
```
If the player has at least `$1,875`, the bill is paid and the inventory is preserved.
If the player has less than `$1,875`, the inventory is lost.
---
## Why RespawnCare?
RespawnCare provides an alternative to the traditional `keepInventory` gamerule.
Death still has consequences, but valuable equipment does not automatically disappear if the player can afford the recovery cost.
Players carrying expensive equipment take a larger financial risk than players carrying basic equipment.
This also creates an additional money sink for economy servers without requiring complicated systems or additional player commands.
